Maybe you can find solace in the fact that, unlike if he had offered to sleep with a woman, that he wasn't doing it to hurt you. Or, a friend of his just posted his details and has misjudged a practical joke horrendously.

E-mail him from your normal address. Then set up a fake e-mail address and start an exchange with this Craigslist person - you need to convince them to e-mail you outside of the craigslist app. Compare the e-mail headers to see the originating IP address match. If they do, it's him.
