Today, I learned companies can legally lie to fire an employee, and unless anything they say is on record, they are legally correct, no matter how unethical the company is. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that absentmindedly correcting my boss's use of the word "whom" could result in my immediate termination. FML
Today, I overheard my boss talking about me on the phone. Turns out he was drunk off his ass when he gave the go-ahead to hire me, and he's now searching for any excuse to legally fire me. FML
Gaslighting 101
Today, I realized that no one at work actually tells me when there’s a rule change, they just punish me and then try to gaslight me into believing it’s always been a rule. FML
NDA FML
Today, a coworker told me something I didn't realize was confidential, until later when my boss called me, saying someone may have shared something confidential with me, and me, not thinking so, said I don't think anyone did. We hung up, they called back and elaborated, and it dawned on me now they think I'm a liar. FML
Today, my co-workers and I have to fight for our jobs because of a mistake our managers made. They get to keep their jobs. FML
I can explain!
Today, I was hired from an interview after being fired 3 months ago from an "at will" employer by someone who sabotaged me. They called it "misconduct" but it's real lame. I was filling out the paper in the app and they wanted permission to contact HR at my previous employer to get ANY information about misconduct. FML
Today, my boss fired me because I corrected him after he misspoke during a meeting. FML
It's a coup!
Today, at work, I accidentally walked into a meeting at which the whole company was there but me. The meeting was about how they could legally fire me while paying as little severance as possible. I'm the CEO and the founder of the company. FML
Today, I got fired from my job. When I asked why, all that was said to me was, "We don't have to disclose that information, but you did nothing wrong. It's just not working out." FML
Today, I was fired from my job because I, in my boss's words, "Abided by company policy to such an extent that customers were starting to hate me." FML

No need to be a dick #15. The FML is pretty vague, And has zero specific details so wanting more is pretty logical. Stop being so salty.

I'd rather actually know why I was being fired so I can improve on myself for future job opportunities.

#44, I think OP is talking about how legally you're not aloud to fire someone because of religion, race, sexuality, or even just not liking them, but if you find that they did something wrong, even a minor mistake, they can fire them and say its for this reason and then it becomes perfectly legal.

The best way to deal companies like this is to name and shame them, if other people have experienced the same they will soon speak and the company will learn.

If you do this, make sure every single thing you say or post is 100% true. You are committing it to record by sharing it, and companies will (legally) go after you if you lie on record, no matter how many times they lied off the record.

Not to mention if you don't have proof they can still go after you even if you are speaking the truth. It's in the laws of most countries that you can sue another individual for talking shit about you.
