Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a picture that my boss’s girlfriend posted. I walked into his office and said, “DUDE! You gotta set me up with that hot chick in the Facebook photo with you and your girlfriend! I would totally hit that!” It was his daughter. FML
Today, I found out that the mysterious and creepy weirdo guy that continuously sends me messages on Facebook is my manager at my new job. FML
Today, I found out that the creepy weirdo who's been sending me messages for a while is just my dad. His excuse was, "I wanted you to feel like someone would actually like you." FML
Today, I got a Facebook message from a guy from my old school. I didn’t remember him, but I replied anyway. When I checked my phone after work, I had 73 new messages that went from, “How have you been?” to, “Fuck you ugly cockteasing whore,” and ended with, “You better hope I don’t catch you!” FML
Today, at work I got a message from some dude trying to flirt with me. While I was cracking up and making fun of him with my friends, I get a message from him saying look directly behind you, and there he was staring at me. FML
Today, I received a message on Facebook from a guy I've liked for a year. He asked me if I wanted to hang out, so I said yes. When I walked out to his car later on, he gave me a really confused look. Apparently I was on my brother's Facebook, and he'd never logged out. FML
Today, my boss friend-requested me on Facebook. My profile picture is of me licking his employee of the month picture for a dare. FML
Today, I made a new friend at my college campus, which was great, until I added him on Facebook and he started liking posts from 3 years ago, asking if he could be my "dirty little secret" because he knows that I have a boyfriend. FML
Today, my boss found me on a dating app. He found it perfectly acceptable to message me and didn't understand why I wasn't comfortable with it. He now wants to have a meeting with me about inappropriate behavior outside of work. FML
Today, I finally worked up the courage to start a Facebook chat with a guy I really like. It went so well, and he even agreed to hang out sometime. Seconds after we finished our conversation, he changed his status to, "Desperate bitches really piss me off." FML

Just a man protecting his daughter

Just wait until your first date OP, your dad will show up at the door with a gun

Without knowing how old the OP we don't know if the dad was being protective or overprotective of his daughter. But especially dependent on the type of business it is, he's protecting the workplace from drama should they fight or break up. But overall I agree, awesome dad.

If men are old enough to work for OPs dad I think her dads over protective

In many states you can legally work at 14 so we have no idea at all. Besides it is better to have an over protective dad than one that doesn't care.
Extremist 7
in most states it doesn't mater how old you are if you are related to your boss and aren't working in a field that us dangerous.

Are you kidding me? He's a total asshole.

I'm with 68. Being protective of your daughter is great, even being a little over protective isn't the worst thing ever. But this dad is threatening people, and not even just anyone, but his employees! You cannot threaten your employees! That is harassment / assault and it is illegal as well as being an asshole thing to do. You can be protective without being a jerk to others.

all of you guys thumbing down comments where they say the dad is out of line; I'm pretty sure you guys would be pissed if your parents threatened any person that had any interest in you to the point they couldn't flirt or go out with you. just saying.

I wonder how many counts of potential (battery and) assault that would be?...

Well, hopefully you don't have to deal with your dad doing that anymore, and at least you know the guy liked you! Still, bummer for missed opportunities.
Freethaawave 19
What missed opportunity? He was probably messaging her so they could reconnect. Maybe they'll go on a date now that OP's dad is out of the picture.

I get what you're saying

He doesn't want her to get loved either.

Unless they meet his expectations

It may seem sweet on the surface, but it's better if a parent provides guidance rather than trying to stop the inevitable. If she's getting involved with someone who's clearly dangerous, then it makes sense to interfere, but if every guy who might try to talk to her is threatened, that's just stopping her from learning how to form normal relationships with guys.

That's the same logic some parents have used for locking their kids up and not allowing them to go anywhere. Terrible logic, really. If daddy loves me, he lets me make my own decisions - within reason.

Well look on the bright side, you survived teenage pregnancy (I'm assuming).
HersheySquirts 17
I'm going to assume OP can handle her own. Automatically coming to the conclusion that OP would be pregnant without dad is a little much.
tellyc 27
Can you blame him? He probably still sees you as daddy's little girl!

I hope your dad has a good explanation for this one...
iOceanus 18
What other explanation is there besides being protective of his daughter?

Your dad is too over protective. Wow.
