Today, thanks to puberty, I have an acne rash around my mouth. Rumors are already flying around school saying I have herpes. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I learned I don't have a yeast infection. I have herpes. FML
Today, at Church, the little boy sitting behind me asked his mother if I had the chicken pox, because there were red dots all over my face. I've had bad acne since I was twelve. FML
Today, at school, I was scheduled to give a presentation to my class. As I arrived, my teacher said to me, "You're bleeding from the 120th pimple on your left cheek." FML
Today, I finally went to the doctor's office to have a small patch of acne on my stomach looked at. Since it was in an almost perfect circle and abnormally sensitive, I was worried it could be ringworm or some other sort of skin infection. It turned out to be an infection alright. Herpes. FML
Today, I found out I have genital herpes. I'm a virgin. FML
Today, I was threatened with suspension from school because of my nose piercing. I had to explain that it's actually a pimple. FML
Today, I thought my face was breaking out with pimples, and I thought it was weird because I never break out. And I noticed all these "bug bites" all over my body. When I got home, I realized those weren't bug bites. I have chicken pox, and my high school graduation is tomorrow. FML
Today, I finally came home from a semester of college, and all my parents and sister can talk about is how bad my acne has gotten. FML
Today, I noticed that my acne has gotten so bad, I can see it out of my peripheral vision. FML
Make it stop
Today, I have what is probably a cold sore on my upper lip. I also have a mustache, which keeps rubbing against it. Because of this, no matter what I do, it stings. The next few days are fixing to be very, very long and miserable. FML

Don't worry. It'll get better. Also, the herpes you get on your face isn't the same virus as the one you get down there - so no worries!

Remember the old saying any publicity is good as long as they spell your name correctly? You have word of mouth in your favour!!

For positive things, yes publicity is good, but would something like this really be a good thing, because for a we know OP could be referred to as some obnoxious name.

OP should just tell whomever bullies him with it that he got it from their mom. A: haha you got herpes OP: yeah sorry got it from your mom last weekend

If it makes you feel any better, OP, when I was in high school, this one kid started a rumor that I let my dog lick peanut butter off my crotch. I was forced to deal with being called "Jif" for two years until I finally beat the shit out of someone for it. It will get better.
toastbrot 9
oh god you tried but two years of bullying and having to beat up someone might not be something OP would like to look forward to. :D

My point was that having a little acne isn't as bad as some of the other things that could happen. Just gotta keep your head up.

That's why beating up a person after 2 warnings is the better solution in high school

That's not true. You can get Herpes/HSV 1 (typically referred to as oral herpes) on your mouth as well as your genitalia. Same as HSV 2 (typically referred to as genital herpes). HSV 1 occurs in about 80% of the population (in America or the world..I forget). I have oral Herpes, my mom gave it to me lol. It's typically no big deal.

Be careful! HSV-1 normally infect the top part of the body and HSV-2, the lower part. Howewer, HSV-1 can still cause genital herpes and HSV-2 can produce mouth herpes. Therefore, you can infect yourself if you have mouth herpes and you are not careful. You could get genital herpes. You can even give genital herpes to your partner if you have mouth herpes. It is not because they have a different number (1 and 2) that they can't do the same thing. It is just less likely to get an HSV-2 infection on the mouth and vice-versa. Sorry for my english, it is not my first language ;) Source : I'm studying in microbiology.

They are correct. Both are interchangeable. I guess that's why they started the supposed rumours in the first place. People are such assholes.

Herpes is not that common among Americans. But I just got it earlier this year which wasn't that bad. But being in nose it set off a "minor" case of shingles. Now THAT was very nasty, especially for being a healthy 41 year old I was not expecting it.

Actually, they are transmittable to any mucus membrane on the body. You can get type 2 (genital) on your mouth and you can get type 1 (cold sores) on your... special area. People need to check their facts before giving someone advice, because this is how people keep spreading it.
dragoongirl90 34
And flyndran or whatever your name, it's actually in 1 out of 3 adults. That's pretty ******* common.

Is oral not a cole/cold (depending where you live I've heard it both ways) sore?
Bearsmomma 30
yes oral herpes are typically referred to as cold sores or fever blisters.

I don't know if we call them like that because I speak French, but herpes is caused by a virus. You can even get it in your eyes or your skin (It is really not common to have it on your face except your mouth, but some people are not lucky). People don't really know about herpes but it is not caused by a fiever or cold. But, if you already have the virus, it can reactivate himself because your immune is a little bit down when you are sick, causing the fiever blisters you are talking about.

And again my message is not getting through, probably because of the url I linked. Just do a Google search for cold sore statistics for my source... Not that common? It's one of the most common virus' one can have, especially since you can't get rid of it once you have it. About 70% of american adults have oral herpes. Most people won't display the symptoms however, since anyone with a decent resistance will not have any problems with it.

Yes, it is the same virus. Type 1 and 2 determine where on the body it affects.

Summer school?

Or a year-round school. They have different break schedules than regular schools.

School in the middle of July?

Year-round school, possibly. They have different break schedules than regular schools. Or it could be summer school.

Shun shun shun the adulterous. Anyway get some acne cream. Try Nerium, it worked for my exwife. Even when Proactive failed.

Acne is like Rattatas. First you see one zit, then another, and another, and basically it becomes all you see. I'm sure it will get better though, OP. :) And with the rumors, you know firsthand it's not true. Everyone else is just ignorant.

Don't worry it will pass! i had very bad acne at a young age and it caused a lot of pain and embarrassment. Drink lots of water and wash your face every morning and night with moisturizer. Hopefully that helps! Good luck!
