Today, my mother-in-maw informed us that she sold her house and is moving in with us so we'll "take care" of her in old age. She's in perfect health. We've only been married for 4 months. My wife can't stand her for more than 2 weeks at a time, let alone living with us. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found out that my unemployed and very needy mother-in-law will be moving in with us soon. And during my conversation on the phone with her, she expects us to buy a house and my wife and I can "live with her." My wife agrees with all of this. FML
Tactfully, no
Today, my mother-in-law asked if she could move in with us. FML
Great news
Today, my mother-in-law announced that she's going to be moving into the apartment next to us. Oh joy. FML
Free carer
Today, my mother-in-law moved in with my husband and I, where she shits the bed and herself. There's a waiting list for the nursing home, so in the meantime I’m cleaning up her shit and she isn’t even my mother. FML
Today, my husband told me that he's letting his mother move in with us. He told her it was alright without even consulting me first. I hate my mother-in-law so much that I'm contemplating divorce rather than living with her. FML
Today, I came home from a week-long vacation, only to find my mother-in-law didn't just dog-sit while I was gone; she moved in, along with all her possessions, and seems to think it's a permanent deal. FML
All you need is hate
Today, my mother-in-law yelled from across the house for me to come quickly. She sounded frantic, so I rushed and asked what was wrong. She said, "Nothing." and that she just wanted to remind me that she hates my guts. She'll be living here with me and my wife for the next two months. FML
It was fun while it lasted
Today, I found out that my toxic mother-in-law's retirement plans include moving in with us when she gets old. The death glares I’m getting from my wife right now are so worth the satisfaction I got from telling that evil old bat I’d burn the house down first before I let her move into it with us. FML
Today, my boyfriend threw a fit because I "still" live with my mother at age 30. I bought her an apartment in my building and hired a live-in nurse because she is senile and permanently bedridden. FML
Today, my mother-in-law moved into my wife's two-bedroom apartment. She's quite possibly the reincarnation of Hitler himself, and she'll be staying until this time next year. FML

It is obvious that she is doing this out if evil intentions so maybe try to put her in a nursing home and visit her every week at least.

Yeah it's totally acceptable to say no to that.

I dunno. This mother-in-maw seems a little unstable. This is how people get stabbed.

Treat monster-in-law carefully, she is known to have evil powers and devious intentions.

Isn't it generally a good idea to ASK someone before you move in with them?

Yes. But common sense isn't nearly as common as the name would imply...

Are you saying that squatting is not an acceptable way of acquiring a home? Wow! I have been doing this wrong for some time now...

Well, seems like you and your wife need to stand up for yourselfes and your marriage and stop this right now. I love my mother and a have a wonderful MIL but I still wouldn't want to live under the same roof for the rest of my life.

It should be easy to put her off. Tell her that you expect rent payment, cleaning, cooking and when the kids come along: babysitting.

She might call that bluff...

I don't understand this. It is your house, and her own daughter doesn't want her there either! This would not be an option for my own parents or my mother-in-law, and both of us agree on that. Get your shit together and tell mommy-in-law she's not welcome to stay.

Exactly. If her daughter wanted her I could see how it might be difficult but if she doesn't want her there either, why is it even open for discussion?! Organise her a place in a nice old people's home if she wants a secure future.
