Today, my dog was barking at a squirrel in the yard. I opened the door to let him chase the squirrel. I went to look at the dead squirrel and found out it was the neighbor's chihuahua. FML

Today, I found my cat downstairs with a squirrel dangling from his mouth. When I saw this, I yelled at my cat to put it down. He did. Turns out the squirrel was still alive and run. I had to spend the next three hours chasing it out of my house. FML
Today, I found out that when you chase a couple of squirrels off your porch for irritating your dogs, sometimes they chase you back. FML
Today, I was having a conversation with a friend at the park when my dog ran up to me with something in his mouth. I thought it was a stick. I bent down to take it, only to realize it was a dead squirrel. My dog just stared at me, tongue lolling, like, “It’s a stick, throw it.” FML
Today, I was walking down a path in the woods behind my house when I saw a squirrel. It ran away, but little did I know it wasn't running from me, it was running from the dog that had forced Animal Control to sweep the area. I ended up with stitches in my leg. FML
Today, I was walking my dog around my neighborhood, when I saw this really cute boy. My dog then saw a squirrel and dragged me through mud. FML
Today, I came home to find a note on my door from the neighbor saying, "I saw a coyote eat your dog, but was afraid it was rabid." FML
Today, my dog proudly brought home a rabbit he'd killed. The same rabbit that belongs to my neighbor's daughter. FML
Today, I went to let my dog inside because she was barking. I saw my neighbour standing at my fence, screaming that she was going to kill my dog with a shovel for barking at her. My dog was only doing it because my neighbor was putting her trash in my garbage bin. This isn't a new thing. FML
Today, I was screaming at my neighbor to shut his dog up. After 30 minutes of bellowing, he yelled back that it was my dog that was barking. He was right. FML
Today, I looked out the window just in time to see a coyote carrying off my cat that I had just let outside five minutes before. FML

I'm not a huge fan of little dogs. They shit me. BUT I would hate to see someone's pet get killed! They love it, I don't have to. I also hate the thought of a squirrel getting torn apart. WTF OP?! You must have been having an uber-asshole moment when you decided to unleash your killer dog on a 'squirrel'. Maybe stop the vampire/werewolf TV shows and horor movies? I'm sure you're better than this moment of poor judgement suggests.

My long comment got "lost in cyberspace" Anyway, what I wanted to say was that if you know your dog can kill other animals, you shouldn't let it out, and even if it usually doesn't you should always check to make sure it is a squirrel your dog is barking at and not a human, like the pool guy, or a struggling baby bird which it could kill, or a neighbor's dog or cat like it happened to be. However, this isn't directly OP's fault as many people have doggie doors for when they need to leave their dog home alone for a few hours, and had OP's dog gone out of one the responses would have certainly been mostly FYL.
