Today, my daughter asked me what is the youngest age at which you should start having sex. Being a good mom, I said that she shouldn't have sex until after she's been married. My daughter then said, "Oh... shoot," and walked away. My daughter is twelve. FML

you should keep a better eye on what your twelve year is doing and who she's hanging around with

So... His being upset at the thought of his daughter having sex at age 12 is the reason his daughter is having sex at age 12?

YDI for being a conservative bitch who thinks that people should only have sex when they're married.

You're an asshole and an idiot. All children reach puberty at different rates and sexual desire can vary from teen to teen and adult to adult for that matter. Having a libido doesn't mean someone was parented badly. This mother is a bad parent, however, for not speaking to her daughter in detail about sex and for feeding her wait until marriage bullshit.

When I was 12, my mom told me that the right age was the age was I was not living under her roof, so I took that as 18, but back then, I didn't really know much about sex, schools here don't even teach sex ed. Now that I'm older and know more about sex because of what's I've seen and what she's told me, she tells me that it's fine as long as I use birth control and take the proper precautions. The OP is not a bad mother for saying wait until marriage, it was just something to say in the heat of the moment because her daughter is so young, and I don't blame her. Still, there's no harm in teaching her about the birds and the bees at this age. I know an 11 year old who has had sex multiple times and I find that sickening. I would react the same way the OP did in that situation and wait until my daughter has matured more. Then I would explain to her about the consequences of sex and how serious it is, along with things like birth control, etc. She has to learn to make her own choices, it's a part of growing up.

ok...theres nothing WRONG with waiting for marriage...there IS something wrong with theiing your kid to wait til marriage and leaving it at that. especially in this day and age, its becoming more of a rarity. teaching abstinence is and abstinence alone is the worst was to go about this. I'm not knocking the whole waiting for marriage thing, but most people aren't going to do that. and if YOU don't educate her, and she does start at a younger age and has no clue what she's doing, she very well could wind up pregnant or getting an STD. think about that.

Why would you want to be curious about something you can't do for another 20 or so years? she's just dissapointed.
