Today, my 8-year-old son microwaved his pet hamster. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my eight-year-old microwaved our thermometer to see if the temperature would change. FML
Today, my seven-year-old son put a spider in the microwave. Animal cruelty? No. The goal was to irradiate it, then get it to bite him so that he would become Spider-Man. FML
Today, I was looking after a hamster for a friend. My dog ate it. FML
Today, my husband was using the microwave when we suddenly hear a huge 'POP'. The good news is we found our daughter's missing hamster. FML
Leftovers
Today, my daughter brought home her class hamster for the weekend. It escaped and we spent hours searching for it. We later found it in the fridge, eating our leftover pizza. I never knew hamsters had such a refined palate. FML
Soon.
Today, I listened to my mom having a conversation with my dog, asking him if he ate my hamster. My hamster isn't even dead. FML
Today, my 5-year-old son put my car keys in the microwave thinking that they would 'warm up' my car. FML
Poor little guy
Today, I showed my family my new pet hamster. At the sight of him, my grandmother, who I had no idea hated rodents, let out a loud screech, causing my usually docile hamster to bite me and piss in my cupped hand. FML
Today, my hamster gave birth. The babies were very cute and I couldn't resist petting one. Apparently touching a baby hamster will cause it's mother to reject and devour it. I am now know in my family as "The Hamster Slaughterer." FML
Boom!
Today, while I was in the shower, my 4 year-old son wondered what would happen if he put 6 eggs in the microwave. FML

Aww I hope your don't doing well. My friend's dad once microwaved a tomato to make it seem like he nuked my friend's hamster after he didn't take care of it.

Wait why would your dad care about how your friend treated his pet

Everyone saying he needs help or he will grow into a serial killer well he's eight. He probably thought it would dry it off or maybe he thought it was cold and wanted to warm it up and just doesn't know better. He just needs to be watched by his parents closer is all. If he was bashing it in the head with a hammer then he would need special help.

I have a six year old and he's competent enough to know that only food goes in the microwave. And that anything that goes in gets "burning hot!" An 8 year old should know better.

#39 an 8 year old should know better but it relies on the parent to teach the kid to "know better"

My 7 year old knows not to put anything live in the microwave. It's disgusting that you're defending his actions and saying he probably didn't know better. At 8 you DO know better

Are you kidding I bet half of you don't understand how a microwave works, let alone an eight year old. Okay you may now go google it and thumb me down.

I am well aware of how a microwave works. What that has to do with the fact that an 8 year old should know better than to put his hamster in it, I dont know. There is no reason, minus the child being mentally handicapped, that he wouldnt know better. You'd have to shelter the hell out of your kid for them to not know that living creature+microwave=death by 8 years old

Only a complete dumbass doesn't know how a microwave works. What the hell does that have to do with the FML? At 8, you're smart enough to know not to put a non food item in the microwave.

It has to do with it because I could see an 8 year old believing that it would just make the hamster radioactive and not kill it if he didn't put it in too long so that it didn't get hot. I could see an 8 year old thinking he could use it to warm up his hamster or dry it off. Like hmmm mommy put food in their yesterday and it got hot, so if I put the hamster in their it'll warm him up/dry him off, as long as I don't make him too hot, he'll be fine. It was his parents' responsibility to make sure he knew non-food never went in the microwave because it'll die/break the microwave. Obviously they neglected to teach the child that. An 8 year old should also be supervised around pets, hamsters can bite if scared (something kids making loud noises and fast movements can achieve), easily get accidentally stepped on by a child, get squeezed by hands that don't realize how fragile such a small animal is (especially if it tries to wiggle away, a child's reaction will be to squeeze tighter). A child should not be alone in the kitchen, at all, regardless of what he did to his hamster he could have turned on the stove and caused a fire just as easily, cut himself with a knife playing with it (not necessarily trying to hurt anything or one, but I remember I tried to play with an unplugged blender as a child, because I thought I didn't realize how sharp it was).

I'm nearly seventeen and I still don't know exactly how a microwave works. All I know is pizza pockets are inedible without them.

When they microwaved a Gremlin...that's fictional. A Hampster? Unspeakable cruelty, being cooked from the inside out! Nasty!!!

That sucks poor hamster hopefully he learned from his mistake (thats if it Was an accident but we can't tell due to the lack of information) and takes better care of future pets. The Parents should keep an eye out incase anything similar happens.
