Today, it's again one of many times my mom dropped me off at the mall to hang out with friends. Since I have no friends, I shop by myself and always tell her I had "so much fun". FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mother dragged me to the mall to get me out of the house and to get me to stop using my phone. She then spent the whole trip talking on her phone instead of actually interacting with me. FML
Today, I talked to my mom about hanging out with her. She got out her phone to schedule an appointment. FML
Today, I walked around town by myself for four hours because I was too ashamed to tell my parents that I have no friends willing to spend time with me. FML
Second best
Today, my mom admitted that the only reason she took me out for lunch was because she felt guilty over going on a massive shopping spree for my sister while I was forced to stay home alone. I thanked her for the Wendy's meal anyway. FML
Today, I asked my mom if I could go to a friend's birthday. She said no, claiming I had been to too many this year already. I'd only been to one. It was my own. FML
High school drama
Today, I went to the mall with friends. I'd ditched other friends in order to go out with these friends. At the table next to me was an ex, and on the top floor were the other friends I'd ditched. FML
Holy stereotypes, mom!
Today, at a mall, my mom accused me of lying about being gay, just because I said I don't like shopping. FML
Today, I told my parents that I was going to hang out with some friends. My dad guffawed and said, "Ooh, look at Mary, pretending she has a social life." Thanks, Dad. FML
Today, I went to the mall with my mum. She had a few too many drinks the night before. As soon as we got into the mall, she puked. She walked around the mall with me, blowing chunks into a plastic bag. FML
No friends, no problems
Today, I realized the only reason my mom trusts me to stay home alone for long periods of time is because I don't have enough friends to throw a party. FML

I think most of us have gone through something similar once. Youre definitely not alone, OP.

What state you live in

Well, I'm not sure about OP, but it seems his mom lives in the state of denial.

It says below the FML, and I don't know why this information would matter.

Not all mom's do... OP must feel pressured into it. Some parents shame their kids when they are not "popular". It is sad, but it happens.

If parents shame their kids for not being social, they shouldn't be parents

It happens more than you think though. My parents never shamed me for not being "popular," but I'm an introvert and they're extroverts, so especially as a teen, they didn't understand that it was my personality type. I liked being at home, being alone, and I didn't have many friends as well as had trouble making them. They'd tell me to go outside, go hang out and meet new people, even go to a party. I'd get frustrated telling them 1)I don't want to do those things, 2)even if I did, I don't have anyone to hang out with or got invited to parties, and 3)meeting new people is hard for me. Sometimes it felt like shaming because they pressured me to be different from who I really was, I was shy and quiet, and they pushed me to "open up." They just didn't understand that I don't need the same things they need, and being an introvert is not a flaw or a problem.

My mom wouldn't let me go on my own because she'd be scared I'd get kidnapped.

You have a responsible and loving parent :)

And have mom blame her for not trying to make friends enough? Nah. Just have mommy drive you to someplace else, like the movie theater, the library, the modern arts museum, where you can actually have fun alone. "Mom, I have to meet my friends at the Aliens Exhibition Center" will look better than "Mom, I have to meet my friends at the mall".

Who said the mom was blaming her for not being social?

It will crush your mom if she ever finds out the truth. You should be honest. Maybe you'll find some friends if you join a club or group of some sort? Mom could help you look into that :) good luck OP.

Honestly i'd rather shop by myself than with friends. No problem at all with being a loner, op.

Shopping by yourself is the best! Try to enjoy it. You can go to whatever store you want and take as long as you want. I bet you'll notice a lot of other people shopping by themselves too.
