Today, I spent nearly seven hours clearing out our storage room in order to transform it into my art studio. Things were going great until I tweaked my back. At least from my stationary position in bed I have a perfect view of the table I can't work at for the next 2 to 4 weeks. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Enjoy yourself
Today, I woke up after a 16-hour shift, and my back is out. I worked it in order to "enjoy" my 2 days off. I can barely move. FML
All shook up
Today, in an effort to save some money, I attempted to paint my own house. Instead, I fell off the ladder and broke my dominant arm. Now I can’t work, brush my teeth, or even wipe my ass. My house is half-painted with stuff everywhere and I have 6 weeks to recover. FML
Can’nae take any more, Captain!
Today, I crouched in front of my closet, lost my balance, and broke my thumb trying to steady myself. I'm an artist, and can't work now. I should probably lose some weight. FML
Knackered
Today, I'm fit, but so exhausted from work that I hardly managed to even climb the stairs. Yet, as soon as I sit on the couch for longer than half an hour, my butt starts hurting. So I guess it’s either reading a book lying on my stomach, which makes my back hurt, or hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat. FML
Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue
Today, I spent almost two hours drawing a scenery. I was tired halfway in and took a break. Came back to my room to see it getting scribbled on. FML
Easy
Today, I bought a flatpack, easy to assemble cot-bed for my baby. I spent 5 hours building it, but when it was done, I realised I couldn't reach into it because I'm 5ft and my arms can't reach and lift the baby. I'd have to throw him in. I'm suffering from back spasms as a result, and I now need to disassemble and return it. FML
Today, because of a miscommunication with my boss, the furniture I was renting during my summer job was taken back by the movers. I still have a week of work left and nothing to eat with, and nothing to sit or sleep on. FML
On the move
Today, my wife yelled at me for not helping her rearrange the furniture. I have a sprained shoulder and have been ordered by my doctor to avoid heavy lifting. She said, "Move the couch or sleep on it." FML
Today, I had a great workout and was feeling really good about my body. Until I sat on my desk, and broke it. FML
Spring break
Today, I'm off work for 4 weeks after trying to move an obese patient from their bed. The poor woman was so large that when we tried to move her the leg of the bed snapped, and her weight drove the sharp broken leg down through my foot into the carpet. Surgery and no walking for 4 weeks. Whoopee. FML

Well... this is the time you can use to brainstorm and do sketches of future projects!

Have somone get you a whiteboard and markers. Position it over your bed so you can try stuff and get ideas. Take pics of the keepers and you can duplicate them once you're back at your table.

Aw, man, that's gotta be a bummer. You gotta be careful with your back! I have a friend who threw hers out while working once, and she still has back problems to this day. Feel better soon, and be more careful!

Sometimes it's these moments where we get most inspired. I had an ACL surgery, and I've used my time to get my body into better shape. Don't let this get you down OP!

Completely agree with graphic style. Same thing happened to me years ago & it only took me out of commission for a week or do but it gives you time to slow, brainstorm for later Wether we want to admit or not it's always nice to have ample downtime :) it's surprising how much help rest can do

I "tweaked" my back once, and I ended up with a herniated disc that required surgery. Be careful, OP.

I assume that isn't case since OP needs to be in a stationary position for 2-4 weeks as much as possible, meaning they most likely went to the doctor and that was what they recommended.

Doubtful. Doctors rarely prescribe bed rest for back injuries. I have severe problems with my back. staying sedintary is the worst thing you can do. Walking, albeit painful as all hell, for 30 minutes at a time every few hours is much better for recovery. The typical prescription from a doctor is 6 weeks of physical therapy and a week, maybe two, of Lortab and Flexeril. Some docs substitute Tramadol for Lortab and Robaxin or similar for Flexeril. As for me. I've got a spinal cord stimulator implanted and take 240mg MS-Contin ER, 1400mg of Soma and 150mg of Lyrica (at night) every single day. I'm still in pain but it's controlled enough that I function at a somewhat normal level in life. Good luck OP! Get up and walk. Once you're better focus on strengthening your core muscles, especially abdominal. That will mitigate future injury but it's likely that you will have problems the rest of your life :-(

#11 I have never had a doctor recommend bed rest for a back injury. Especially when it comes to the spine, because blood flow is so minimal in that area. In fact, I was made to get up and walk just hours after my surgery. They made advise a brace and/or pain meds, but unless you're facing paralysis then a good doc will tell you to get up and move. #14's got the right idea.

My 1st thought was that bed rest isnt the best thing for your back. Ive got scolosis, and actually had, what I described as a cold in my back a few weeks ago. Laying down, which is what I desperately wanted to do was the worse thing I could have done - I couldnt move when I got up in the morning. My chiropractor is amazing, that could be an option...massage therapy maybe??? Talk to your doctor and see what they say. Though I cant imagine any foctor worth their license telling you bed rest for 2 to 4 weeks for a 'tweaked' back

At least you now have time to plan out some projects you can start working on once your back is better.
