Today, I went to my guidance counselor and told her how I'd been fascinated with space since I was 12, had read about the universe and everything, and how I want to be an astrologist when I grow up. She stared at me for a second, before saying, "But you're... stupid." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my teacher told me that unless I went into medicine, math, or engineering, I would never amount to anything in life. This wasn't even two minutes after I told him I want to be an author. FML
Today, my high school guidance counselor tried to convince me NOT to go to college, mainly because it's been so long since someone from my high school went to college, that she got rid of all the college information she used to have. FML
Today, for the nth time, my father reminded me that I should study things related to the "real" world, as if I was studying theology, astrology or something. I'm studying for a master's degree in physics. FML
Today, my 9-year-old daughter was acting out and wouldn't do her homework. I told her that if she didn't study, she wouldn't get her acceptance letter from Hogwarts. She looked into my eyes, straight through to my soul and said, "Hogwarts isn't real, retard." FML
Bad omen
Today, I had a conference with my dad, my counselor, and my history and English teachers because my dad was "concerned" about my grades in those two classes. We talked for a while and it was going well, then my counselor asked what I wanted to study in college. I said I wanted to be a teacher. He laughed. FML
Shadowboxing
Today, my whole family was so excited about watching the Artemis II launch and scolded me for not mustering more enthusiasm. Great, we can go to space now… so anytime someone talks about real issues like climate change or racism, we'll hear, "Well just go to space then" or "Space will solve our problems." FML
Today, in astronomy class, a kid used Uranus in a hilarious innuendo. I was the only one who laughed. I also happen to be the teacher. FML
They'll go at night
Today, my daughter asked me why NASA hasn't gone to the sun yet. She's seventeen. FML
Today, I was participating in an activity to join a program which I really wanted to join. One of the teachers in charge seemed to notice my efforts and asked if I wanted to join the program. I said yes, thinking I had a chance. She laughed, shook her head before saying no and walking away. FML
Today, during my friend's group's science project presentation, the teacher yelled at me, "Stop making stupid faces at the presenters!" I was smiling. FML

Your counselor probably had a point. If you were interested in space you would want to be an astronomer, not an astrologist.

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but to add to the ridiculousness of this whole ordeal, the username of the poster is "Astroloser". FYL

You shouldn't have been called stupid. That's not cool.

#34 and #36, I work in a skilled field and a lot of my co-workers are dumb as door nails about most things except for their job. You could be stupid in most subjects but have a passion for learning everything there is to know about something. Most stupid people just stick to learning about meaningless crap such as sports statistics and whatnot.

Doesn't "everything there is to know about something" usually include the name of that something? The OP doesn't know the difference between astronomy and astrology. She's stupid, plain and simple.

Mm, I don't even believe she called you stupid. I'm rather more inclined to believe that you cut down the story into what you felt would be a nice and succinct FML anecdote, but you ought to have checked our words; as everyone else has pointed out, you probably didn't mean "astrologist". And if you HAVE gone to all this trouble and really love the stars and the universe, but you make such a basic mistake, you ARE stupid. Your guidance counselor got it spot on.

Haha, Guidance Councilors. Ironically, on the list of people you should seek guidance from, they fall somewhere between homeless people and the people that check to see if the bathroom needs to urinal cakes.
