Today, I was participating in an activity to join a program which I really wanted to join. One of the teachers in charge seemed to notice my efforts and asked if I wanted to join the program. I said yes, thinking I had a chance. She laughed, shook her head before saying no and walking away. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I gathered the courage to participate in a class discussion. My professor laughed at me. FML
Today, I was walking with a friend to tell him how excited I was for college and even motivating him to apply for the same school, until I found out later that I got rejected. FML
Today, I eagerly applied for a high-salary, fully supportive graduate program that I qualified for. There were 5 steps in the application process. I was turned down after the first one. FML
Just the two of us
Today, I was at the gym, well intent on trying a new workout class. I was the only person in the class and the instructor was clearly disappointed. He reluctantly gave me the class but I could tell he was hating the whole experience. FML
Today, I was offered a position as a trainer at a great company. My manager was livid when I told her. This is after she told me I was wasting my time trying to become a trainer and if I wanted to become one, I should apply elsewhere. FML
Today, I started my first teaching job ever. As I was teaching, another teacher interrupted my class about 5 times because she thought it was her class. Not only did she ruin my confidence, her behavior caused my students to laugh at me. FML
Good intentions
Today, I asked someone to work with me because I felt sorry for her. Turns out, she isn't at all helpful and refuses to work after school, just because she would miss her "beauty nap". She also made up dumb excuses for why she couldn't help me or the others. I wonder why no one wanted to be in a group with her… FML
MVP
Today, at school, everybody wanted to be my partner for a project. This surprised me because nobody ever wants to be with me. Turns out when I was absent, my teacher promised that whoever was my partner would get extra points on the project. FML
Today, I found out I didn't get accepted into a program I was nominated to attend at work that all other applicants with less experience than myself did. I found out when they asked if I had gotten the acceptance email. They didn't even bother telling me I was rejected. FML
Today, I had a teaching job interview. After giving my demo lesson, I was told by the director that I had given it on the wrong topic. Turns out, I never got the e-mail with the instructions for the interview. Now I'm definitely not getting the job. FML

Can you talk to who's in charge. Not getting in is one thing, but something like that is just unprofessional on their part.

That's cruel, just try again next time and train in the meantime. Good luck.

I would ask a different teacher if I could join but if she's the only coach, I would report her. Activities are supposed to be for everyone, let alone enjoyable. This is why those 60 minutes of activity ads are out. I personally think it's wrong to deny kids of sports/activities whether or not they're decent at it or not. The fact that she laughed at your effort to join shows what kind of person she truly is. Don't listen to her OP, and do what you really love!

I don't think it's an "activity" as in exercise activity. It's to join a program, whether that be sporting or otherwise, we don't have enough evidence to assume either way. Though I think the very fact that this program has an activity just to join it suggests that the program does not accept everyone.

What a bitch! Usually, when people act out this way, it's to make up for how shitty and insecure they feel about themselves. I'm sorry you had the misfortune of coming across someone like that, but don't let her stop you from doing what you want to do, OP! Try finding a different program, perhaps? Hopefully a one with a more welcoming teacher.

Try to join anyways. Maybe one of the other teachers will let you in. No harm in trying

That's kinda cruel? honestly if someone did that to me, it would lessen my enthusiasm in the program. I mean, who would want to be hanging around people like that all the time? they think they're clever now, but word spreads, and soon nobody will want to be part of it due to their attitude.

I think I would speak to the principle. There is no call for a teacher being deliberately cruel to a student.

Cruel? Perhaps they were being frank. People often have extremely unrealistic expectations. Perhaps the teacher knew this person's temperament, skill level, or fitness for the activity. If you're 400 pounds, you shouldn't be a cheerleader/gymnast. If you failed algebra, you shouldn't take calculus. Etc etc. Being in my 30's, I've learned a few things in life. One is that people are more hurt by false encouragement, than the truth.

# 21 To be frank would mean that OP had initiated the official request to join and was told 'no'. to be approached by one of the instructors and asked if one wanted to join only to be laughed at and told ' no' is just plain cruel and rather rude/unprofessional. even if OP isn't suited for the program this is not the way for OP to find out that. Also, I'm pretty sure you are confusing wisdom with age and becoming jaded with time btw.

One thing I'VE learned is that there's a very VERY large difference between being blunt/frank and being cruel/mean. And that bullies tend to claim they're the former when they're actually the latter. The teacher here is the latter.

definitely deliberate cruelty, another word for that is mobbing, your teacher should be warned that that kind of behavior shouldn't be tolerated in a school, where young minds are being formed to achieve something in life..people like that ruin your sense of achievement and your self-esteem, a pedagogue should know better than that, talk to the school principle.

What activity is it?

What a wench. Even if you didn't have a chance, she could have been nicer about it.
