Today, I went through my 15 year old daughter's internet history. On google she searched 'Excuses to get away from your dad' and 5 other variations of the same thing. We were supposed to be having a father daughter day tomorrow. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I walked in on my 15-year-old daughter stripping on Skype for strangers. FML
We've all been there
Today, I looked through my daughter’s search history. Did I find porn? No, worse. At the age of 17, she has been looking up the definitions of commonly used words such as ‘arbitrary,’ ‘pretentious,’ and ‘initiative.’ FML
Today, I Googled my father, who I haven't seen in 3 years. The first website link was his obituary. When I confronted my mom about it, she said, "Oh, didn't I tell you?" and walked off. FML
Nostradamus
Today, I went to my phone company and had my text history pulled. Why? Because a few days ago, my four year-old daughter told me that, "Daddy has a wife and a girlfriend." Turns out she was right. FML
Today, my 15-year-old birth daughter asked if I've ever had sex. FML
Today, my daughter decided to come out to me by leaving a browser window open with the results page of an online "Are you lesbian?" quiz. FML
Today, my 17-year-old daughter has been sending and receiving videos and pictures of a sexual nature. I just had to wade through a ton of middle-aged dick pics as evidence for the police. FML
Today, I had to take my 15-year-old daughter to remove the handcuffs her father had placed on her as a joke. He didn't know they were real. FML
Classic
Today, I got called into the school by my daughter's teacher. Apparently my daughter informed her class that over the weekend she spent her time with her daddy watching porn stars while her mummy was at work. It took a long time to convince her they were actually watching a TV show called "Pawn Stars". FML
Privacy violation
Today, I asked my mom to help my daughter with Zoom school while I handled an emergency. When I got back, I found out my mom went through my laptop containing all my documents, my emails and even the journal my therapist suggested I keep. She says she was looking for a Zoom link. Yeah right. FML

YDI for snooping. Give her some space -- she's growing up. ...On the other hand, though, FYL because of what you found.

More like FHL for having you snoop through her history. I bet you've got plenty of stuff you wouldn't want her to see.

You ******* deserve it for searching through her stuff !

I don't understand why everyone is saying YDI. There's two reasons as far as I know that a parent would go through their kid's internet history. A) The parent is extremely extremely overprotective (I have a friend whose mother is like this). or B) The kid has given the parent a reason to go through their history, and therefore, has lost some amount of trust. The daughter sounds a bit obnoxious to me, so I'm going to say FYL. I think it's fantastic that you want to spend time with your daughter, even though she sounds like a bitch. She should definitely appreciate what she owns, since you're most likely the one paying for it, and she should appreciate you for having a dad that wants to spend time with her. I'm 14 years old, and I can't believe the amount of people my age saying YDI. Seriously? Grow up. We're teenagers, not adults, and I know that 10 years from now, most of these people will be going back to those parents for any kind of basic need (Food, money, shelter). Give your parents a little more respect and credit.

YDI for monitoring your 15 year old daughter on the internet. Give her some privacy. Also you deserve it for making her participate in "Father/Daughter Day". Ugh. You disgust me.

A: Then the YDI is warranted, don't be OVERprotective god dammit. B: Then it depends on the reason , but still maybe YDI meh, wait till she actually tries one of the excuses, I saw a few posts earlier, it might have not been her history and even if it was it doesn't gurantee she was planning to use it. If my parents don't have a job available for me in 10 years that would most likely mean my dad's business failed and they have no food or money.

I think it's a little irritating that everyone is assuming that the people clicking YDI are teenagers. He deserves it, not for invading her privacy, but for whining about finding something bad after he was pretty much looking for it.

FYL for having an ungrateful bitch for a daughter. She should be happy that she has a dad who wants to spend time with her. And she should be happy that she has a computer to Google her stupid shit with. She's only fifteen, so I'd be willing to bet that you bought that computer for her. Therefore, you have every right to go through her history. If she wants privacy, she should get a job and buy her own computer.

I wouldn't want to hang out with my dad either, if he had a screenname like "alealovespurple" hahaha.

You don't know that she doesn't have a job, and with a permit you could work at 14 and 15, so you don't know for sure. I plan on working to get a computer right now and I'm 14, I would know :P

I never said that she didn't buy her own computer. I said I'd be willing to bet that she didn't. In other words, while it is possible, it seems far more likely that the computer was bought for her. But yeah, I understand what you're saying.

Why must you present everyone who's a teenager and defending this girl's privacy as using horrendous spelling and using 1337 speak ? There were a few who were bad at that, but there is no need to represent us all as that. I would think that if it was her youtube history or something like that, but internet history is too vague to generalize as "looking at the books on her shelves ". I honestly don't want my mom or dad seeing that video or article on abortion I watched. You can't honestly say that's like having a problem with my mom looking through my DVD-Rs (no, I don't have a bookshelf, I don't read anything for entertainment but things that could be classified as an article of some sort, it doesn't mean I can't read). Maybe it's just me, but I don't equate seeing that I have a copy of the watchmen, or hell even the saw movies, to reading some of the messed up shit I read on the internet. I respect my dad who works his ass off supporting me.....My mom doesn't do shit, drinks a lot, ****** up the family business , and abandoned me at the hospital while I was getting treated for cancer a week ago so I think you could excuse me not respecting her. I do thank you for this post however, because I do think it's way more well thought out than most of the ones that I responded to.

Hahaha one of the best responses yet.

Ok there is a lot of gray area with this fml, but here is what I think... 1) For all of u calling him a Bad father...FYL!!! You don't know him, and do you have any idea how many horrible things happen to teens everyday because of internet 2) For all of you calling him a good father...FYL once again you don't know him and maybe he is annoying and a total control freak who is treating her like she is 5 3) Give your daughter some damn space. If you are snooping then you must be scared you didn't raise her right, so either way its your fault. 4) I must agree with the ppl saying that you shouldn't be upset you found something bad, because that's what you were looking for and lastly... 5) I am so sorry your daughter can't see how valuable this time can be...so ydi and fyl
