Today, I was going to break up with my boyfriend for taking me for granted and being such a jerk. He didn't even show up for our date. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Waiting for my man
Today, I decided to break up with my boyfriend. The main reason being that he doesn't value my time, and fails to see how canceling at the last minute is rude and a major inconvenience. I wanted to be respectful enough by breaking things off face to face. He cancelled, at the last minute. FML
Gasp
Today, I canceled all my plans because my boyfriend wanted to go on a date. He didn't mean with me. FML
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I had only been dating him for about a month. Thinking he wouldn't take it very hard, I invited him over so I could tell him in person. Little did I know he was going to start crying on my couch and not leave for 5 hours. FML
Awkward
Today, my boyfriend stood me up. At dinner with his parents. FML
Today, I tried to break up with my boyfriend. He said no. FML
Romcom moment
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend because I was tired of waiting for him to propose. It turns out he was going to propose and had the ring and everything, but I fucked it all up. FML
Today, the guy I broke up with for not putting any effort into the relationship asked if he could make it up to me by taking me out to lunch. He stood me up. FML
Don't care
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I called him about two minutes after, and he'd already fallen asleep. FML
Today, my boyfriend thought it'd be a good idea to break up with me in his car. I had to walk home. FML
Dragging it out
Today, I hadn’t seen my boyfriend since New Year’s Day, then we went out for lunch Valentine's Day and at the end of the date he didn’t even kiss me. He texted me at midnight tonight saying he sorry he’s a jerk and broke up with me. FML

@MattCole: When I broke up with my first boyfriend, I first took him out and bought him his Christmas gift before doing so. There is nothing saying that the OP's bf had to pay for a damn thing. Maybe she was taking him out to discuss it over dinner or something. She was basically showing him respect by breaking up with him face to face.

Novogrod, maybe you should go back to school. The predication of the dependent sentence was OP's post. It's conversational. Just like switching between tenses in different sentences. "What are you doing right now Jewls?" "Ah, I'm trying to explain the English language to somebody on FML. I went to Rosie's party earlier, it was killer."

better yet, don't give him the time of day......just ignore him completely and move on. don't do that whole childish "i'm ignoring you!" thing. totally ignore him. then if he calls just sound a little muddled up and go "i'm sorry who is i'm speaking with? ..........oh.........*insert name here* how are you doing? oh hey i'm meeting some one in a minute, i'll give you a ring back" and never ring him back. i've mind ****** boys like this before, its hilarious. they'll follow you round for weeks. it will make him feel about this big *holds finger and thumb a tiny bit apart*

Technically, "proved" is not even a word. (Unless wherever you live, it is. I which case, I apologise.) In this context though, the correct wording would be "has proven". L2 grammar troll!!!

Seriously 158? Tell me specifically which action described in the original post that Snickerdoodles was referencing? Don't try to answer that, you're going to embarass yourself. No matter the answer, you would be assuming.

Uh, how about, "He didn't even show up to our date." When conversing with other people, we often base a lot of our wording on things the other person says, and "assuming" the meaning. Obviously though, you're not very experienced in human interaction because you're too wrapped up in your own self-righteousness. Sorry, that must suck :/

Oh, and Myntee, I don't know where you're from - Australia or the UK I assume, based on you saying "apologise"? There could very well be a grammar difference or colloquialism could have just completely overtaken our US dictionaries, but I've always learned the prove/proved/has proven conjugation. *shrug* Could just be a cultural thing :)

A letter? What is it, the 19th century? yeah still, needs to break up with him though. why would you even plan a DATE to break up with him? too formal aha

Alright then... I'll ASSUME by your last comment you meant "Novogrod is incredibly handsome and intelligent." Oh? What's that you say? That's not what you meant? Gee, I wish assumtions were 100% accurate all the time. Assumption to the meaning of what someone writes is unreliable, and therefore improper. All sentences need proper context. For all you know, Snickerdoodles could have been referencing past behavior, not the most recent incident. Stop trying to argue with me, you have no chance.
