Today, I was at a restaurant with my kids. I told my 13 year old about how the very first time she said she loved me. She was 2 and it was at this very restaurant. I told her the details and even started tearing up a little. She didn't even look up from her cell phone and said, "That's fab, ma." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my daughter said "I love you mom", to me for the first time I can remember. She is 16 years old. She said it because I bought her first thong. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I were talking about times we'd made our mothers cry. She said she'd only made her mother cry once. When I asked when, she said, "When I told her I was thinking about dating you." FML
Today, I told my mom, "I love you". She responded with, "What? I never told you I loved you." FML
Today, I kissed my husband and said, "I love you." That's when our 5 year-old son said to my husband, "How can you love her so much if she's so ugly?" FML
Today, I told my mom I loved her a lot. Her reply? "Thanks." FML
Today, I told my girlfriend I love her for the first time. She said, "Thanks." FML
Gratitude walks
Today, it's my soon to be 12 year-old daughter's birthday. On my break at work I texted her how much I loved her and happy birthday. She replied with, "K, when will you be home? Mom won't let me open presents until you're here." Good to know I'm loved. FML
Cute
Today, my boyfriend said, "One day I'll tell my children how I met you. I mean, our children." It's pretty cute, except for the fact that we're 17 and have been dating for only two weeks. FML
Awwww
Today, I asked my kids how much they loved me. My seven year-old responded, 'I'll love you forever mummy.' My sixteen year-old responded, 'Can you wind down the window, I just farted.' FML
Today, I told my daughter that she should put some love into her cooking. She started kissing the ingredients. FML

I'm only a year older than OP's daughter, and I would have probably gushed all about it! :') Am I the only one who loves hearing stories about their childhood?

Don't let her be disrespectful like that. I'm sure she would have cared if she had any clue about what you were talking about. But I really wouldn't let her treat people like that if I were you.

I honestly would love my mom even more for reminiscing with me like you tried to do with your daughter.. She could've shown a little emotion towards what you were saying. Sorry, OP.

It's just a phase, don't worry.

You could also not buy a 13yo a phone.

Be mature enough to not take it personally. She's just being a typical 13 year old. Besides... You're the one that gave her a cell phone at age 13.

OP you should teach her some manners. Being on her cell phone while out to eat is extremely rude, in my opinion.

Wow I would never do that to my mom
