Today, my girlfriend of three years dumped me because my refusal to go out drinking or get wasted at parties with her makes me "too boring". Thing is, I'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm over one year sober and I don't want to risk relapsing again, yet she expects me to choose between my health and her idea of fun. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because of my drunken antics. My reaction? Pour myself a stiff drink. FML
Today, my boyfriend of nearly 4 years, with whom I have a baby, broke up with me. His reason? His best friend said he didn't like drinking with guys who were "tied down". FML
Today, I caught my boyfriend trying to dispose of several empty alcohol bottles, leading to a discussion how dating me and putting up with my insanity has given him a drinking problem just so he can get through the day. Me catching him seemed to be the wake up call he needed, because he dumped me. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I was going to start controlling my drinking and he told me pretty much that he didn’t think I could do it. FML
Today, I broke up with my long-term boyfriend, because his alcohol problem is so bad that he drank his way through an old bottle of Tequila, which belonged to my mum, and that I'd kept after she committed suicide. FML
Today, my group of friends officially cut ties with me. According to them, my girlfriend "has me whipped" and made me "boring", all because she helped me break free from my alcoholism and finally get sober (two years and eight months running). They told me to call them when I'm "ready to be fun again". FML
Today, my fiancé refused to talk to me because I'm "an alcoholic". I only started drinking like this after we moved in together and he brought me alcohol every day, because he's an alcoholic. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me because I've been "spending too much time at the bar." I've been sober for 2 years. FML
Today, I was invited to a party, but I didn't attend because my boyfriend would be disappointed with me. Instead, I spent the night with him watching movies. At the end of the night, he broke up with me because I wasn't fun enough. FML

That's retarded. Nobody is trying to impress anybody. It's not a talent show. Alcoholism is a serious problem. So because someone is afraid to slip down a slippery slop, does not mean it is a bad idea to not try it at all. It's safe and if people can enjoy life without it then they should by all means stay alcohol free.

Not as good? Being high is better! No nasty hangover, usually doesn't end in a vomit pool, and it won't become physically addictive. Yes it can be addictive mentally, but so can any action that you derive joy from. (this comment was posted with marijuana in mind for those examples)

Drinking top tips: eat a metric **** tonne before hand (dominoes large pepperoni is ideal). Pace yourself (you don't drink all at the beginning or all at the end, but just throughout the evening). Stick to one staple drink (e.g cider or beer) and one form of shot as mixing with almost certainly get messy. When you get home drink a load of water (helps stop the hangover) and eat a **** load of crisps/bread or anything absorbent. With these top tips you should be chunder/hangover free!

Nobody should drink, but the weird people do apparently thinking it is cool. If you switch it with a soda then it isn't cool. You know you are weird if you are one of the loud people who make noise hanging on a balcony holding what most likely is a 3rd cup of alcohol. I am glad I don't drink and hang out with friends like that. Op made a good choice to stay sober.
