Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend gave me grief about my drinking. This would be fine, if he were sober. FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I was going to stop drinking, since I have been having some problems with alcohol and some of my relatives are alcoholics. He later broke up with me, saying he couldn't be with someone who "chose to be boring." FML
Today, I caught my boyfriend trying to dispose of several empty alcohol bottles, leading to a discussion how dating me and putting up with my insanity has given him a drinking problem just so he can get through the day. Me catching him seemed to be the wake up call he needed, because he dumped me. FML
Today, one of my fiancé's groomsmen is an alcoholic, and my fiance is in denial about it. He's a nice guy when sober, but belligerent, disrespectful and out of control when drinking. My fiancé refuses to acknowledge my anxiety at having him in our wedding with an open bar. FML
Today, I realized I willingly support my boyfriend's alcoholism, because the only time he says "I love you" is when he's blind drunk. FML
Today, my fiancé came home drunk with some girl. Then he told her that I was his sister. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me. I said yes. This caused him to panic, excuse himself, then take it back via text message a half hour later, claiming he'd been drunk. We live together. When he comes back home, it's going to be very awkward indeed. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because of my drunken antics. My reaction? Pour myself a stiff drink. FML
Today, my ex sent me a pack of beer to screw with me. I'm still going to AA, and I thought I was almost over it. Five bottles later, I realized I'm not. We didn't break up over my drinking, either; it was because after just 2 weeks of dating, she threatened to kill herself if I didn't marry her. FML
Today, my fiancé and I had a fight over household expenses. He's never had a job in his life, but this didn't stop him demanding that I get another full-time job to pay for video games and beer. FML

So you knowingly got engaged to and moved in with an alcoholic, and then started drinking more because of it, potentially developing your own drinking problem, possibly worse than his? Some times the problems in our lives are caused by our own poor judgement. He's probably right, and you both need to get some control over your drinking. Hopefully you can support each other rather than just undermining each other, but either way, you need to get your life in order, and seriously consider if you want to marry an alcoholic if he's not willing to get his in order too.

Did no one tell you that you can say no to a drink?

That's a very thoughtful response with some good points made.

For your own sake, I really think you should talk about this between the two of you.

Leave him not because he's an alcoholic, but because he's a hypocrite! There's no rehab for hypocrisy.

Assuming you're old enough to drink, you're an adult and can make adult decisions... like saying no when he offers you alcohol. Just because he offers you some, it doesn't mean you HAVE to take it. Take control of your own life and responsibility for your own actions. You drank it because you opened your mouth and drank it. He didn't shove it down your throat forcefully. You both have a problem now and both need help... if an alcoholic calls you an alcoholic... maybe... you're an alcoholic... just saying...
