Today, I saw a fight so I went over to try and break it up. Someone thought I wanted to join in, so he gave me an unexpected whap in the happy sacks, and I also got a bloody nose for my troubles. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was walking down the street, when I saw a guy in front of me trip and fall forwards, and I quickly jumped forward to steady him. Apparently he thought he was being mugged, and threw his head backwards into my face, leaving my nose a bloody mess. FML
Fight Club
Today, while at a local bar, my friends and I were approached by an overly intoxicated man who asked us each politely if we wanted to fight. Thinking it was a joke, I said yes. It wasn't a joke, I now have a broken nose and a black eye. FML
Today, my boyfriend was telling me about accidentally punching his best friend in the face. As he was acting it out he ended up punching me and giving me a bloody nose. FML
Today, I saw two kids having a fistfight in the street. I ran over to stop them, and one ended up hitting me in the eye. I now have a black eye over what turned out to have been a fight over who was going to get the last slice of pizza. FML
Today, I noticed a rather small man being harassed by a rather large man, so I tried to help out and break it up. The small guy punched me in the face and said, "Mind your business!" The large guy laughed and fist-bumped him. FML
Some winners…
Today, what started as a family gathering turned into an all-out brawl. I saw my son’s wife punch him, so I hit her. Her mom and sister jumped me. My husband was pulling them off when the other husband thought he was attacking them and jumped in, so my son jumped in as well. We won, at least. FML
Today, I got into a nasty fight, and ended up leaving with a black eye. The fight was with a champagne bottle cork. I was opening the bottle to celebrate the New Year, at home, alone. FML
Today, I was out clubbing, when some bloke at the bar started trying to pick fights with everyone. Trying to defuse the situation with humour, I said, "I used to be a tough guy like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee." The next thing I know, I have a broken nose. FML
No good deed…
Today, someone was getting beat up by 6 guys. When I tried to help, they had a swing at me as well. The cops came when I was enthusiastically defending myself. They got away, I got arrested. FML
Tough guy, huh?
Today, my face got intimate with several plywood boards, and I suffered lacerations and bruising. I told my friends I got the wounds from taking a few guys down in a bar fight. Now they're dragging me out into a rough part of town to give them "muscle" while they try to score some crack. FML

agreed lol. I don't know if "right," was the right choice of words for the situation. They didn't think you wanted to join, they just "whapped" your "happy sacks" for fun. I know I would have. This story made me laugh.

If you're a teacher, you have a bad choice of words, but it sounds like you're a student. The kind that sucks up to teachers and makes everyone do the right thing and cocky and all thar, so YDI.

Well isn't that sad

I would have just stood there and watched. Why try to stop it ? Its just going to happen somewhere else if it gets stopped.

i'm not trying to just shove a cheesy moral at you or anything, but there's this saying that goes something like "the one that is worse than a crime is to watch a crime happening and do nothing."
the_stereotype 0
but i agree...breaking up a fight wasn't the best way to go. you probably should have gotten a teacher or something (if it was at school) or just someone with authority.

YDI for using the term "happy sacks."

There's a difference between sitting idly by while an old lady gets mugged and allowing two (or more) idiots knock each other silly.

how is watching a crime worse than doing it

Are you serious #90? How would you feel if you were getting the shit kicked (or stabbed) out of you and a huge group of people stood by and did nothing even though they were perfectly capable of helping you? It's called bystander syndrome, and it's the same as murder.

nope, that old saying is really just something they made up to get stupid people hurt because in those days they didnt have internet to keep themselves entertained. just joking, but seriously if someone is going to try to break up a fight they better make sure they are capable of beating the living crap out of the other person first.

And he deserves it for yelling "Right!" as he went to break up the fight. He is realllllly making himself seem like geek trying to look tough.

I agree, how is watching a crime worse than doing it? It's still pretty bad, but it's not as worse as making the crime, and can't in anyway be compared to murder, like #104 does.

I think 6 was lol'ing at 4's comment, not saying he was 4th. Btw, why the **** would someone say "Right" immediately before going to break up a fight?

I guess you're a teacher, or of some authority? Because if not, then YDI. Not your duty, not your trouble. Shoulda just went and reported it if you cared so much.

Exactly! Best to just stay out of it or you'll be "That guy" forever
