Today, I'm on vacation. I spent $4000 to surprise my boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. We have been together over a year. Turns out, he hates the outdoors. He's mad at me for bringing him here and is upset at everything. He's in the room reading, I'm at the bar drinking $10 Mai Tai's. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Cheap-ass lying bro-bro!
Today, I found out my boyfriend is booking my dream vacation to Bali with his brothers, 6 months after he told me we couldn't go on vacation this year because he doesn’t have the money. They planned this within a week. I had been planning it with him for months. FML
Today, I landed in Hawaii for my vacation. I have a really bad ear infection, and to top my day off, my girlfriend blurted out mid-flight that she thinks we're not going to work out. Aloha! FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that he wanted to break up with me but it had to be after our cruise together because he doesn't want to lose out on money. Can't wait for the Bahamas. FML
Today, my boyfriend used the "this isn't working, we need to talk" line on me. How nice of him to wait this long to do so, just days after we returned from the expensive Caribbean holiday that I paid for. FML
Treat yourself
Today, my fiancée bought me a luxury getaway to the Maldives, complete with a five-star hotel and first-class plane tickets. Too bad she used my credit card, with all the money I was saving for our wedding. FML
Trip of a lifetime
Today, on the last day of our vacation with my boyfriend's family, I'm crying alone under a tree because he refuses to talk to me because I got mad he didn't want to do anything with me, but did those same things with his family. He went out of his way to do all the things I wanted to do, but without me. FML
Give me strength
Today, my son got back from his solo holiday in Hawaii. I asked him what he did. Apparently, he sat in his suite for 2 weeks, watching shit on his laptop. He spent thousands of pounds, flew thousands of miles to one of the nicest islands in the world, all to stay in his room. He could have done that here. FML
Today, I got back from a romantic vacation at a fancy hotel with my boyfriend of 6 months. After a steamy love session, I confessed that I was in love with him. Later, when I got out of the shower, all his stuff was gone and I was stuck with the entire week's hotel cost and no ride home. FML
Fun-filled vacation together!
Today, I found out my boyfriend can't swim and we are about to go on a romantic holiday to Zanzibar where all our excursions include water-based activities. His solution is that I just go do them all by myself. FML
Today, it's the first day of my Hawaiian honeymoon. We found out that the pool is under construction and our room is infested with roaches. We are paying $375 a night for this. FML

You've been together over a year and you didn't know that he hates the outdoors? I gotta say YDI.

He seems like a jerk...any normal person would at least try to enjoy themselves when the significant other put in that much effort. Sorry, that sucks! On the upside you are in Hawaii!

Agree with #82. How the heck does going to a resort on the beach with a bar that serves Mai Tai cocktails count as the "outdoors"? They have a hotel room, for God's sake. If she had taken him camping, we could all say "you deserved it", but a beach resort in Hawaii is about as outdoors as a hotel near a large park in Paris or Berlin. Give me a @#(#@*@ break.

Your boyfriend sounds like my mom's asshole boyfriend. He bitched for weeks about wanting to go to San Diego so my mom booked a hotel in San Diego, paid for it any everything. He bitches the entire trip about how she didn't choose the "right hotel." May I ask WHY you put up with this shit? I once dated an asshole and he was out the door in 3 months (by the way, it would have been sooner but I spent the 3rd month in the hospital barely able to speak --the fact that he never visited would have sealed his fate even if he weren't otherwise an asshole). Seriously, DUMP HIM! MOVE ON! Find somebody who actually APPRECIATES you efforts! You deserve better!

I don't like the outdoors veary much eather, but I did have a fantastic it in Hawaii a few years back, and I would diffenatly go back. Aggre that you might want to dump him, if he does not appreacat what you did, then he's not for you. RI

but there're stuff to do without having to be very outdoor. outdoor would mean something like biking, camping, kayaking (for me). enjoying the beach is not exactly outdoor stuff. unless he's allergic to sun or something. so he just want to lock himself in the room, hating the sun, and read? he could at least enjoy the beach... if not, YDI for taking some guy who thinks he's vampire to hawaii. but even if he's a "vampire", he still can go out at night.. unless your bf is just a jerk. cancel the ticket home and leave him there.

@Poki: Can we please get of twlilight, its geting annoying. But I do agree with you, that there is pleanty of indoor stuff you could do. it just that the OP needs to fined something that they can do together, insted of drinking her sowwrows away with $10 Mai tai's. RI

He's a jackass. My friends are in Hawaii right now partying their faces off on vacations from work. i am sure you could get with them, they all love the out doors, and they are always down for partying in other places.

1. Spending $4000 on something for someone you've been seeing for just ONE year? There's being generous and then there's "What the hell?!" 2. Surprise trip = Nice in theory, idiotic in practice. Generous? Yes. Thoughtful? Not so much. "Here, I just spent X amount of money deciding where you wanna go and when, without even consulting you!" 3. Organising a $4000 surprise trip for someone who you have been dating for a year but obviously have not had many conversations with since you didn't know he hates the place you chose = A) You should probably know a person better before pulling something this huge, and/or B) It's where YOU wanted to go, and wanted to bring him along - which means it wasn't for HIM, it was for YOU and you just didn't wanna be alone, so you're not this saintly generous human being anyway (especially since you said yourself that he was mad at you for "bringing him here"). It is perfectly reasonable to expect that, having dated someone for a year, you would have mentioned at some point places you would like to go, or activities you despise. On top of this, while many of us would see Hawaii as a dream vacation, not everyone feels that way. Duh. Seeing how you clearly don't know the guy too well, or just plain ignored this kind of information, then it's a YDI. Also, I don't see why you're bitching about him reading in his room. You're on the internet. Must be one killer vacation. Sure, he could be seen as being a tad ungrateful for not appreciating you dragging his ass there, but you're the one complaining about it whilst on vacation in Hawaii. He's not the only ungrateful idiot in the relationship, obviously.
