Today, I'm on vacation. I spent $4000 to surprise my boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. We have been together over a year. Turns out, he hates the outdoors. He's mad at me for bringing him here and is upset at everything. He's in the room reading, I'm at the bar drinking $10 Mai Tai's. FML

Today, I found out my boyfriend is booking my dream vacation to Bali with his brothers, 6 months after he told me we couldn't go on vacation this year because he doesn’t have the money. They planned this within a week. I had been planning it with him for months. FML
Today, I landed in Hawaii for my vacation. I have a really bad ear infection, and to top my day off, my girlfriend blurted out mid-flight that she thinks we're not going to work out. Aloha! FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that he wanted to break up with me but it had to be after our cruise together because he doesn't want to lose out on money. Can't wait for the Bahamas. FML
Today, my boyfriend used the "this isn't working, we need to talk" line on me. How nice of him to wait this long to do so, just days after we returned from the expensive Caribbean holiday that I paid for. FML
Today, my fiancée bought me a luxury getaway to the Maldives, complete with a five-star hotel and first-class plane tickets. Too bad she used my credit card, with all the money I was saving for our wedding. FML
Today, on the last day of our vacation with my boyfriend's family, I'm crying alone under a tree because he refuses to talk to me because I got mad he didn't want to do anything with me, but did those same things with his family. He went out of his way to do all the things I wanted to do, but without me. FML
Today, my son got back from his solo holiday in Hawaii. I asked him what he did. Apparently, he sat in his suite for 2 weeks, watching shit on his laptop. He spent thousands of pounds, flew thousands of miles to one of the nicest islands in the world, all to stay in his room. He could have done that here. FML
Today, I got back from a romantic vacation at a fancy hotel with my boyfriend of 6 months. After a steamy love session, I confessed that I was in love with him. Later, when I got out of the shower, all his stuff was gone and I was stuck with the entire week's hotel cost and no ride home. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend can't swim and we are about to go on a romantic holiday to Zanzibar where all our excursions include water-based activities. His solution is that I just go do them all by myself. FML
Today, it's the first day of my Hawaiian honeymoon. We found out that the pool is under construction and our room is infested with roaches. We are paying $375 a night for this. FML

He seems like a jerk...any normal person would at least try to enjoy themselves when the significant other put in that much effort. Sorry, that sucks! On the upside you are in Hawaii!

definitely FYL. who cares if he absolutely hates it? Sometimes you just have to suck it up and pretend to enjoy things even though you don't. After all, he's there with you and if you've been going out for one year, he ought to enjoy your company at least.

Hawaii isn't a dream vacation for everyone. The thought may count, but that's only if thought has been put in. Hawaii happens to be a popular destination, so one cannot totally fault the OP for failure to plan, but this sort of thing should be discussed ahead of time. Sure, the boyfriend could appreciate the gesture, but being in a place you don't like tends to grate on the nerves after a while. I'll bet most of the above posters who complaining that the boyfriend was ungrateful would probably complain endlessly if taken on a complete tour of Robert E. Lee's battlefields or a trek along a few hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail.

Regardless of how long you've been dating him and his "hate" for the outdoors.. your boyfriend is acting like a child by sulking in his room while you forked out that money for the vacation. What would he rather do? Play WoW while you guys are down there?

Don't worry...the same thing happened to me. Planned an entire spring break trip, got there, and he wanted to go home the first night. He actually called his parents and tried to get them to book a ticket home for him. WARNING...just break up with him now. Totally not worth it.

There's plenty of indoor things to do in Hawaii. Tell him to get over himself, he's being a whiney, ungrateful little pansy. Oh, and your sorta deserve it for not knowing he's an outdoorsy guy. Still though: Him = Pansy.
