Today, I had a nightmare and woke up in a cold sweat. My girlfriend was in bed with me at the time, and swears I yelled out another girl's name. She considers this proof that I'm cheating on her, and now she won't even speak to me. FML

Today, my girlfriend woke me up at 5am to tell me she was mad at me. Apparently I did something bad in her dream. She still won't talk to me. FML
Today, I woke up after having a nightmare that my girlfriend broke up with me. Needing reassurance, I told her about it. She became furious with me saying that she'd never do that and called me an "inconsiderate fucking bastard for even thinking that." Then she broke up with me. FML
Today, the girl of my dreams that I've been dating for months called me. Apparently she's been having recurring nightmares of me cheating on her. She dumped me "just in case." FML
Today, I got woken up and kicked out of bed. Apparently if I cheat in her dreams it still counts. FML
Today, after my girlfriend had a nightmare this morning, I stayed home because she has really bad anxiety issues. A couple of hours later, she's pissed because I said I would stay up, but I fell asleep. FML
Today, I woke up my girlfriend up with a cute kiss. She was apparently having a bad dream and headbutted me. FML
Today, my girlfriend woke up in the middle of the night, crying. When I asked her why, she said that she had a dream where we were getting married. FML
Today, I was woken up by my drunk girlfriend calling me and saying how much she loves me. She then stopped to tell the guy she was in bed with to be quiet because I might hear him. FML
Today, my girlfriend woke me with a surprise up on my birthday. Unfortunately, it was her screaming at the top of her lungs and punching me in the face because of a nightmare. FML
Today, I woke up in the middle of the night with a numb arm. When I tried to reposition it, it flew crazily and slapped my girlfriend in the face. My girlfriend, who was in a string of abusive relationships, and has severe PTSD. FML

Just because she's not speaking to you doesn't mean she won't listen. Let her calm down a little and then explain that you had a nightmare and if you did scream another girl's name, it was probably because something really bad happened to her in the nightmare. If you can't reason with her, well, that's around when couple therapy will help. Usually.

OP should say the girl tried to take him from his girlfriend in the dream. That's why he called her name and why it was a nightmare. Add something about waking up to his true love by his side and OP should be home free.

Plot twist: It was actually his girlfriends name and the nightmare was about her accusing you of cheating. Now she accused in reality. But what if reality is actually a dream and you are still in the nightmare!

#31, it's not "babying." It's trying to save a relationship. If OP has been happy in the relationship, they should try and save it. I mean, dumping her over this one thing would be as ridiculous as selling your car because one of the tires is flat. Besides, there are plenty of reasons she's acting like that; she's been cheated on a lot, she's going through a hard time in life (i.e. family death), OP has cheated before, medical reasons (i.e. bipolar disorder), so we can't just assume she's some crazy bitch OP shouldn't be with. We don't have enough info for that.

31, no if you're in a serious a relationship, its time to put your big girl panties on and leave the baggage at the door. If you have hang ups, you don't need to be dating. You can't change, fix, or help people. They have to do that on their own.

You know, I'd be all little concerned too if I heard my boyfriend say another girls name in his sleep. Of course, I'd ask what he dreamt about. I wouldn't be too upset, as long as it wasn't one of "those" dreams. You can't control what you dream about, though. But if it was one of those kinds of dreams, I'd wonder what made his subconscious dream of it. But I do think OP's girlfriend overreacted a bit. She should talk to him about it, and clear it up before jumping to conclusions. It WAS a nightmare, so you know.

#47, by that logic, almost no one would ever date and we would be extremely underpopulated. Everyone has baggage, everyone has scars. We can't just forget them (and if it's medical, we can only do so much to deal with it) and saying that because someone has them, they shouldn't date, is stupid. Saying that we can't help people is stupid. I mean, what the **** do you think therapists are for? Charity? Hospitals? Medicine? Rehab? Things like alcoholics anonymous? They're all there to help people and great examples of how we can "fix" people. Part of relationships is helping the other person through things. If you can't see that now, I'm not going to sit here and try and explain it. I shouldn't have to.

Try to reason with her once or twice, but if she won't listen, she's not worth your time. There are tons of great girls out there who would actually listen to you and try to reason with you instead of simply assuming that you're cheating.
