Today, I found out I have a job interview coming up. For the job I'm currently doing and have been for the last nine months. My manager told me not to expect too much. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Rage against the machine
Today, I've been working towards a management position at my IT job for 9 years. My boss quit, so I thought, "This is my chance!" Nope, our department got outsourced and now I'm interviewing for my own job on Monday. FML
Today, I went in for I thought would be an interview for a promotion, but turns out there was no interview set up, and they'd already decided who would be the next manager. FML
Today, while waiting for an interview at the career that I've been spending months tailoring my résumé for, I was thrown up on by my only competitor. Guess who got the job. FML
Today, after interviewing for a promotion to a position that was created with me in mind, I eagerly accepted a call from my boss, expecting good news. Turns out, they found a better applicant, who they don't believe will need support from the position I currently hold, so it's being eliminated. FML
Wait here
Today, I showed up on time for a job interview. After waiting for about three hours, I was informed that the manager had "better things to do" than interview me. FML
Today, I interviewed potential employees for a job position that I was supposed to get promoted to. FML
Close but no cigar
Today, after having tried for months to get a promotion at work, I finally had an interview for a higher position. Everything went great, and I was told I would get a call next week for my second interview. I went back to my desk, only to get an email stating they're canceling the position. FML
Today, after months of job searching I got a job interview. I also later got a phone call from the manager informing me they burned down, and all current employees will be relocated or dismissed, and that my interview, scheduled for tomorrow, is postponed indefinitely. FML
Today, I got called for a job interview. I didn't catch where it was, and in my excitement I forgot to ask. I now have no idea where I'm being interviewed. FML
Never name-drop
Today, I had a job interview. I have another job I want to leave, but haven't said anything yet. At the interview, I mentioned where I worked, and the interviewer name-dropped my manager. She then told me he was her step brother. So much for not wanting my manager to know. FML

Sucks for you OP. It's really hard on existing employees when another company takes over. Good luck with your interview!

Just think of it as a high-stakes "all-or-nothing" performance review. Doesn't that relax you? I wish they had the same kind of thing for marriage!

It sounds like it's a one-year-contract job. They only keep you on, if you qualify. Bring your "A" game 'cause it's not looking good.

If you were actually doing the job there'd be no question would there? So really you only think you're doing the job or are just going through the motions because why should you actually do any work right?

Two things I hate with companies. Re-interviewing for your own job, and job ads that won't say what the salary is, but make you tell them how much you expect. Both are ridiculous HR policies.

There's nothing wrong with telling a job what you think you're worth (better than them telling "you" your value) and proving why it's a fair amount. IMO.

The problem is, you either overshoot, and they don't take you because you're too expensive, or you undershoot, and you work for less than you could be earning. I'd rather they just said what the job paid, so I could not waste my time and theirs with an application that's going to get rejected anyway. By way of an analogy, if I was looking to buy a TV, I might expect some negotiation on the final price, but if when I ask the salesman how much it is, if he were to say "Why don't you guess?", I'd just walk out.

"Job interview," means sex. "don't expect much," means he's supplying the condoms. Have fun.
