Today, I asked my boyfriend to go to the airport with me, to see me off for my three-month stay abroad. He said no because the two-hour drive is "too boring". FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went with my boyfriend of 10 months to rent a car, for which he needed his dad to sign for. To avoid introducing me, he banished me to the nearest airport terminal, and picked me up 45 minutes later, around 11:30 p.m. FML
Today, I drove three and a half hours to surprise my long distance boyfriend for our anniversary. He was out of town. Where was he? Three and a half hours away trying to surprise me. FML
How very dare you?
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because he "couldn't handle the distance." He said he "couldn't commit to driving to see me long term." We live two hours apart, and I've driven to him every time; he never tried to come to me once. FML
Waste
Today, my boyfriend told me that he was going to take a nap. When I asked him why he wanted to take a nap in the middle of the day, he said, "To make time go by faster." He's leaving in 9 days. We're going to be 3,000 miles apart. For a long time. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he needed to reconsider coming to see me for financial reasons. I'm the one paying for the airfare, giving him a place to stay, and covering his expenses while he's here. FML
Today, I called my boyfriend to tell him how excited I was to drive 12 hours to see him and his new house. His girlfriend answered. FML
Mommy's boy
Today, I asked my fiancee to drive me to the airport for a business trip in a few days. She ranted angrily that she already had plans, so I asked my mom to take me instead. Now she's pissed and saying, "Why don't you just go marry your mommy, since she does everything for you?" FML
Welcome home!
Today, I went to the airport to pick up my long-distance boyfriend. Having waited six months for this, I was stoked. After waiting for three hours and sending numerous messages, I was eventually informed I was a week early. FML
Today, my boyfriend, who lives 100 miles away and whom I haven't seen in 2 months, told me he was visiting my city with some friends. I assumed this was an opening to an invitation, but no, he just asked me about the best places to get drunk. FML
Today, after months of planning, my boyfriend told me he's changed his mind and doesn’t want to move with me to where I got a job. Why? He doesn’t want to live that far away from his mother. FML

In addition to wanting to spend time with OP, the boyfriend could have saved OP a headache. Now OP's going to have to find someone else to drive or pay for an hour-long cab ride.

He's just butthurt that you're leaving. You should be single and enjoy your time abroad thinking about only yourself. Have fun!

I think it's kind of selfish of you to expect him to drive a 4 hour round trip to say goodbye in an airport instead of at home.

Her fault for going on a 3month trip. I mean shit thats a longest time and make home drive there? nah its like punishing him twice because she didnt or couldn't take him with.

if she took a month vaca and didnt take him, he shoulda ended it anyways

@38 What kind of logic is that? You're not entitled to join someone on their vacation just because you're dating them.

that's another way to look at it but then again he didn't have to say that it was boring. That's just downright mean. Maybe he should've word it better

Break up not worth it

Now I get that he should've said it better but guys have been taught to contain our feelings so maybe he's trying to say he doesn't want to be separated for so long. I mean I know I'd be sad if I were him but happy for you at the same time. I could just be reading way too much into this but whatever.

Is seeing you off at home not enough? My family and I rarely see each other off at the airport, and we live only half an hour's drive away. It's definitely asking quite a bit out of him to drive two hours to a destination he's not even going to spend ten minutes at, then driving two hours back home, by himself. It's certainly not a sign of him not loving you, or being jealous that you're leaving and he's not. He just doesn't want to be inconvenienced with a drive that's as long as a transcontinental flight. Simple as that.

find a way to entertain him during the 2 hour drive down there.
