Today, I drove for three hours to surprise a girl after surgery. My truck broke down outside her place, and it turns out she's over an hour away at her family's place. FML
Today, I drove three hours to surprise my girlfriend, who I hadn't seen in three weeks. When she opened the door, she gasped, told me to fuck off, and slammed the door in my face. FML
Today, I drove my ex-boyfriend home from dropping his car at the garage for new tires. On the way, I drove past my house where my boyfriend was sitting in the driveway ready to surprise me. My boyfriend watched us drive by. FML
Today, I called my boyfriend to tell him how excited I was to drive 12 hours to see him and his new house. His girlfriend answered. FML
Today, I went to the airport to pick up my long-distance boyfriend. Having waited six months for this, I was stoked. After waiting for three hours and sending numerous messages, I was eventually informed I was a week early. FML
Today, I wanted to surprise my long distance girlfriend by flying to her unannounced. When I arrived at her house, her family tells me that she herself boarded an unannounced flight to where I lived hours ago. Surprise. FML
Today, I got a phone call from my boyfriend, who screamed at me for being a f-ing liar and never taking time for him. He'd called my work and knew I wasn't there as I said I'd be. He was right - I was lying. I'd been driving for the past 10 hours to his family's beach house to surprise him. FML
Today, my boyfriend called me as I was getting ready for bed and asked me to pick him up from the bar. Being a loving girlfriend I drive the 45 minutes; when I get there his friend informs me he left about 45 minutes ago. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend cheated on me. We're in the middle of nowhere and have a 4-hour drive home. FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend to go to the airport with me, to see me off for my three-month stay abroad. He said no because the two-hour drive is "too boring". FML

I agree. This just means both of you cared about the other enough to drive three and a half hours to surprise each other. Something a lot of people wish they had. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth =) I was thinking it was an FML up until I started reading the last sentence. Come back and post another one if he ever drives three hours to see another girl instead of you on your anniversary.

7hrs. 14 after they each drive back to their own town. I guess THAT is an FML, but I don't think she was whining about the gas, lol. But I live in California, and I hear gas prices here are at least a wee bit higher in average than in other states =P

Slightly off topic, but I do this with my boyfriend, friends and family alot.... we'll either try to do the same thing and end up where the other person just left, or we'll get the same present for each other.... usually I try to coordinate on larger things (like a 200+ mile trip or a large purchase), but I really enjoy it when it happens with smaller things.
