Thanks for your help

Today, I saw my car being broken into on the street below my apartment. Too scared to stop them myself, I called the police. Before I could even tell them what was going on, they put me on hold. It was a good 5 minutes before I realized they'd hung up on me. FML

Really? I'm at a loss for words on this one

This is really upsetting. You could have been in a life threatening situation. A life may have been lost due to the stupidity of people we are supposed to rely on

Try to get them to do something again, and if they don't simply turn to the local government's arch-nemesis: your local news station. They live off of stories like this.

The cops were busy watching 'Cops'. They're really letting themselves go.

"You're lying. Because I know for a fact that cops doesn't come on until 4!"

I think you kinda deserve it at least yell at them to stop or say the police is on there way or something

Cops are here just to arrest people, not to protect. You can google that. I had someone who tried to break into my house, so I called. They said they would be there in an hour.

Ever read the side of a cop car? "To serve AND protect" Right?

from my experience its "to frisk and molest"

This is a good reason why people need to hold some responsibility for their safety.

People shoudn't be responsible for stopping thugs steal a car. That's why we have the police. It's their job to stop them.

police dont stop crime they arrest people after the crime was commited. stop living in the 50s, police are not your friend.

That's why we have guns

Amen, brother, amen.

why didn't you video tape them.

Why the **** are people saying "why didn't you yell at them? Why didn't you confront them?". He could have been armed! Honestley, why risk your life for a car? Yes, they are expensive. But is it worth your life? I think he did the right thing.

Do you live in Chicago?

And our crooked politicians want confiscate our firearms and rely on the police instead.... While I wouldn't confront a car thief and would have called police. There are situations where police cant help right away. And that is where you need a gun.

You are damn right on the nose there
