Today, I sent my boyfriend of three and a half years a text message spilling my heart out, saying I'll love him forever, and how much I appreciate him in my life, that I want to be the mother of his children, etc. His text back to me? "Are you drunk?!?" FML
Today, two months after beginning a steamy text exchange with the man I’ve been in love with for 13 years, he told me that now when he thinks of me he feels "warm and fuzzy." In a panic, I responded sarcastically, “Primarily in the dick, right?” That shut everything down real quick. FML

idk how people can say "someone I've been in love with for # of weeks/months/years. " Don't you mean someone you've had a crush on? how can you so willingly "love" someone that 1. you're not even with, therefore you don't know them TRULY. 2. On here, they seem to treat you with average or low quality behavior. 3. have no idea you like them or won't return the feelings. if you actually LOVE someone and you don't even know the real them and they don't love you back, and never have, then you seriously need to detach and move on. raise your standards. don't settle for a crush and call it love. find some real love.

I am in love with mu best friend, we dated for a year, still love each other (even after the break up) I was in love with him long before we dated and I knew the real him as he's my best friend and we would spend every day together. Just because you aren't officially with someone doesn't mean you don't know the real them and can't be in love with them I obviously don't know OPs situation but I'm just saying, it's not impossible to love someone without being with them

I was friends with my now-girlfriend for around 4 years before I admitted I had a CRUSH on her. I will admit I didn't really /love/ her when we were friends. Friendships and relationships are different. Not to say you can be friends with your partner, but there's more to a relationship than just getting along on a friend level.

there is a certain level of intimacy that not even a best friend gets to see. So while you can be close you can't really be as close as in a relationship with a person that returns the love you feel for them. also having dated someone isn't really what I'm talking about. I am more directing it at people that sit in silence and never say anything but insist they are in love. I love my friends especially my best friend I love my family and I love my boyfriend. All three loves are not equal. They can't be.

I am aware there is a difference between friend love and relationship love however my feelings for him are very clear. I understand what you mean about those who sit in silence, however there are many people out there who don't have any intimacy with their partner until after marriage, doesn't mean they don't love each other :)
