It's not what you think
Today, I found out everyone in my neighborhood thinks that I'm a beaten woman due to the reoccurring ambulances in front of my house at night. My kid just chokes on everything, and they don't believe me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I found out that our neighbors told almost everyone on our street that I was mentally handicapped. All this time I wasn't sure why they would speak slowly and loudly at me. Now they won't believe me when I tell them I'm a 4.0 GPA student. FML
Today, I had to explain to a hospital social worker that my young son is not abused, he is just rowdy and that he knocked himself unconscious and shattered 4 teeth in a bizarre stunt involving a tree, my ironing board, a mop bucket and lots of duct tape. I'm not sure the hospital believes me. FML
Today, I started shaking my son's Little Bill doll in frustration, as the batteries weren't working. My nosy neighbor saw through the window and called the cops. They wouldn't believe me and now the whole neighborhood thinks I'm a child abuser. FML
Today, I'm incredibly sick. I can't breathe, can't walk ten steps without falling, and no one believes me. My mom just sat next to me and said, "Honey, isn't this all a bit much? Quit being dramatic, because I can't believe this." When I asked why I would fake this, my sister yelled, "Guess you can't go shopping!" I'd want to. FML
Today, I have to deal with being laughed at by my mother and sister, because they keep making sharp movements towards me, causing me to flinch. This is because I got mugged and beaten last night. They think it's hysterical. FML
Today, I found out why people in my new neighborhood keep giving me weird looks. For a laugh, my brother had gone around telling them I'm a parolee, and implying that I couldn't be trusted around their children. FML
Today, I was doing my jazz aerobics workout and accidentally kicked my 3 year old daughter in the face. Everyone we know, including my wife, thinks I beat her. FML
Today, my mother topped someone's story of their child's problems by saying I'm on drugs. This resulted in people showing up to stage an intervention for me. She made the whole thing up and I've never used drugs, but no one believes me. FML
Today, I was babysitting my neighbor's kid. We were playing in the yard, when he fell and got a small scratch on his leg. I gasp, and he takes a huge breath in and yells, "FUUUCK!!!" as loud as possible. The parents thought it was me, and the mother slapped me in the face. FML
Today, it's Halloween. I get bullied every day and this was no exception, but this time I got beat up so hard I bled. Everyone thought it was part of my costume. FML

Domestic abuse is nothing to CHOKE about

It sucks that your neighbors are so quick to judge, but maybe if you explain the situation to them and take more care in putting harmful objects out of your child's reach, things will be better.

It sucks that they don't know what's happening and that they're judging based on what they saw, OP don't pay attention to your neighbor, some people just don't use communication between your neighbor and you.

I hope your kid is okay op!

Op, if your kid has choked so bad that he's needed an ambulance to come to the house more than twice (and to the point where your neighbours think you're being beaten all the time), than I think there's probably something wrong with his esophagus and you probably need to get him looked at (if you haven't already). People with normal functioning esophaguses don't choke all the time and haven't had the ambulance come several times. I'd be seriously concerned about this.

I would seriously be more worried about my child than what the neighbors think. Either OP needs to do a better job watching her kid and child-proofing the house, or her child has special needs or some kind of disorder—in which case OP needs to get some help managing things and taking care of her kid. That's definitely not normal. It's hard to say without all the information, but I think OP has her priorities and concerns in the wrong place.

Ya, "my child just chokes on things," isn't normal.

Oh, yeah, I used to choke on everything as a kid. I wish I could say they'll grow out of it, but the truth is I've had to install handy retrieval strings on all the food that I eat.
GAeroNKissR 26
handy retrieval strings? WTF - why are people giving this a thumbs up??!

#34, I'm pretty sure he's making one of those things called 'a joke'.

I'd need to check the spelling, #37, but I /think/ that's what I was going for.

Depending how old your kid is this is a major YDI.
Tripartita 45
Why would the OP deserve being thought of as beaten if her older child choked a lot?
YourSpecialJoy 15
I think they mean if their child is a younger child - meaning they shouldn't be given access to things like whole hotdog slices or small legos which can be lodged in their throat easily. Op doesn't deserve it, but they should keep their child's age in mind when feeding them or giving them toys. If its an older child, the kid should know better by now but they still don't deserve it, accidents happen.

The next time an ambulance arrives tell them to see who is actually needing medical attention. Also how beaten would you have to be in order to need an ambulance yet not show any signs of major damage? Plus wouldn't the police be there constantly? People are so stupid to judge something then stick by their judgement without looking at the facts.
Myo_fml 20
Then they would probably concoct some wild rumors that op is a child abuser.
worldclassrager 41
If you don't come up with bruises wouldn't that be proof enough?
pjsr 33
Many abusers intentionally do damage to areas that will be hidden - back of the head, areas always covered by clothing - so as to avoid others reporting.

I guess if whoever wanted to they'd have a good excuse
