Epic prank bro
Today, I found out my late grandfather left me a significant amount of money in his will. I thought it was weird because he always acted like he hated me. When I got the envelope, there was $500,000 inside, all in Monopoly money. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I attended the reading of my grandfather's last will and testament. My parents, as well as my brothers and sister, all inherited a nice sum of money. I got 69 cents, because, "young Jack always was an immature little shit." FML
Today, I attended the reading of my grandfather's will. I didn't expect to receive anything, since his side of the family had always ostracized me for being born out of wedlock. I did get something: $3,500, on the binding condition that I use a portion of it to get a vasectomy. FML
Today, I found out that when my uncle died, he left me and the rest of my family £2000 each. Only my parents kept and spent my share on themselves. FML
Today, I received a tip in Monopoly money. FML
Today, my aunts found grandpa's will, which left everything to me and nothing to them, and his lawyer confirmed on the phone this was definitely grandpa's wish. My entire family now hate me and think I manipulated him. My grandpa has hated me my entire life, so I think this is his way of punishing me. FML
Today, I inherited several buttloads of money from my grandmother, including property, and by gosh did so many relatives appear from the woodwork to remind me of money granny owed them, or how they just needed an investment to kickstart their business venture. The whole lot of them can screw off. FML
Today, I inherited a lot of money from a great aunt that I had forgotten about. Her immediate family are all scumbags who were only after her money, so she willed it to me and my mom to say "fuck you" to them from beyond the grave. Now I keep getting threatening phone calls. Thanks auntie. FML
Today, my grandpa died suddenly. About a month ago, he gifted me a few thousand dollars to buy a used car. My uncle is now demanding I return it, saying I can't prove that my grandfather agreed to it, and that he wants his rightful share of the inheritance. FML
Today, while paying for groceries, I opened my wallet to find that all my cash had been exchanged for Monopoly money. FML
Today, I found I'd inherited money through the death of my childless aunt, enough to be debt free and pay my entire mortgage. My cheating ex girlfriend found out and is demanding half, since my aunt died when we were still living together under common law. She’s getting solicitors involved. FML

Good, now give that to your best friend and say, "my dad owed your family this money take it."

U counted it?
MizzKilljoy69 11
who would be dumb enough to count monopoly money? unless you were actually playing the game. and it was probably stated in the grandfathers will, 500 000

So your grandfather died, and your upset because you got fake money? You should be upset he died!

First of all, we don't know how OP feels about her grandfather, considering he hated her and gave her fake money as a last trick. Also, please tell me why OP has to feel bad that her grandpa died? Considering that he brought her hopes up by thinking he actually loved her and was brought down by the fake $500,000, OP could have lost respect for him. Don't tell people what they should do over events like this. I bet you would be upset too if your dead grandpa trolled you like that.

Thank you THE_A_TEEN for saying it all. I also grew up with a grandfather who hated me because 1. I'm female and he wanted a boy and 2. I was his daughter's child so I didn't have his last name, I had my father's. These were two things I could not control but they were deal breakers to him. Of all his grandchildren I am by far the most successful but in my entire life he never had one good word for me. When that old bastard finally died everyone got a piece of the pie except me and it's not upsetting because of the money. It's upsetting because of the exclusion and the obvious hate from someone who really SHOULD have loved me.

My dad favored my brother for the same reason. He preferred a son and he flat out told me why "Boys can pass on my family name. You can't."

No. 73, it never ends. I also grew up with parents who favored my stupid, lazy, druggie brother for the same bullshit rationale. I graduated from an Ivy League school. He flunked out of five colleges, each crappier than its predecessor, before finally squeaking by at "Chicken Shit College." He has a criminal record. I have never had a single incident involving the police unless I was the victim. He has had multiple marriages to losers. I married once and am still married to the same man. He is 50 years old and they are STILL subsidizing him because he has an entry level job. I am a top person at my place of employment and haven't received one thin dime from them in about 35 years. Well, why should he try to do better? Our dipshit parents are making his mortgage and car payments and just treated him to brand new furniture because 'he was tired of his old stuff.' And yet every time I am in their presence I have to hear all about how he is the 'genius' of the family when actually I am so much smarter than that asshole that it isn't even a competition. I guess if you consider being the consummate moocher a 'genius' skill then he is, in fact, a genius and smarter than me since my husband and I pay our bills with money we've earned, so upon further review, genius, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder and is contingent upon how you value being responsible and acting like an adult and having some self-respect.

Thats still better than my grandpa. He left me a bible, knowing full well that I'm an atheist.

Well No. 39, that was an asshole move on his part. Not all grandparents love their grandchildren unconditionally, do they?
bjf10 22
Ugh. That's just mean spirited.
perdix 31
That's about 30 sets of replacement Monopoly money (each set has $16,550), so what he left you is worth a between $100 - $120. He must have really hated you to put so much effort into his posthumous prank.
winnerme123 8
It's better than nothing.
perdix 31
Yes, but not by much. When the OP sells the fake money on craigslist, she can take the proceeds to buy a bunch of illegal Mexican laxatives and take the most disgusting, disturbing shit on his grave.

One, it's "Dougie". Two, what's that have to do with the FML? ._.

Look, don't start the Water Works just because he railroaded you like that. Actually, he sounds like a pretty Electric guy! To take your mind off it, take a walk along the Boardwalk or through a Park Place. In the eVentnor that you can't let it go, fly to the Mediterranean for a vacation or pray to St. James for help. Good luck.
