Congratulations!
Today, after weeks of being engaged and with the wedding date planned, I finally told my parents. They told me it was my best April Fool's joke ever. I should've waited one more day. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, as an April fools day joke, I decided to tell my mom and dad that I was gay. After an awkward silence, my mom looks at me, smiles, and says, "well, we have known for a while." She wasn't joking. FML
Today, I decided I would tell my mom I'm not going to marry my fiancé because it just didn't feel right, only to walk into my own surprise engagement party. FML
Today, I told my husband I was pregnant. He laughed and said, “April Fools, right?” then left the room, still laughing like it was the dumbest thing ever. Tomorrow's April Fools day. I really am pregnant. FML
Today, I walked in on my boyfriend of 5 years getting intimate with my best friend. When they saw me they immediately stopped and said nothing. After about 5 seconds of silence my boyfriend yells "April fools!" April Fools was 12 days ago. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed. Three hours later, he called me to tell me he was kidding. FML
Today, I was at a family gathering when my aunt asked me if I was seeing anyone special. In a tired and sarcastic tone, I jokingly said, “I’m actually getting married next month!” The room went silent, then some of them cheered. I had to explain I was kidding, but now they’re looking forward to a wedding I didn’t agree to. FML
Today, I came out to my parents. They still think I'm joking. FML
Today, my husband told me to look for a honeymoon resort, since we had to cancel it last year. I looked everything up and got all excited. Just when I asked him for payment information, he said "April Fools!" April Fools was two days ago. FML
Today, my father told all of us that he eloped with his girlfriend of two months. I'm engaged to the woman's daughter, and have been engaged since before they met, but now my family is making fun of me for marrying my "sister". FML
Today, I discovered that my boyfriend was planning on proposing to me tomorrow. I found out after receiving a couple of a dozen texts from friends and relatives bitching me out for not telling them. Apparently, my dad thought it would be appropriate to make the announcement for me on his Facebook page. FML

Everyone is skeptical about everything today. You need proof to back anything you claim on April 1.

Well it's not the best day to tell people such things but congratulations and hopefully many happy years

You shouldn't have waited a few weeks to tell them. In my opinion you deserved it.

Why shouldn't have the OP waited? Some people want to tell everyone right away and that's cool but; maybe the OP wanted to enjoy the little bubble of happiness with their partner for a little while before bringing other people into it. that doesn't make them bad. Where's your sense of romance?

Some people aren't close to their families, or the family may be overbearing and take over all plans. It's a bit hard to know why they waited.

*gasp* Don't you know opinions are worthless here?

I agree partly. If you don't want to tell people straight away that's fine. But they've only got themselves to blame when they wait until April fools day to announce it. It's a bit silly

At least they did not tell your loved one in the face as you were introducing her to the family, so count yourself lucky.

Not to raise alarm but my sister's getting married today too and they worried about this happening to them

Don't worry. My parents called all of their friends exactly one week before they got married (on April 8th), and all of their friends and family thought it was an April Fool's Day joke. Imagine having to re-explain to 200 or so people that you're actually getting married and that it's not some great big April Fool's scheme.
