Congratu…

Today, my husband and I broke the news to my 10-year-old son that in about 8 months, he'll have a baby brother or sister. I knew he never wanted a sibling, but I didn't expect him to throw a tantrum, then look at me through teary eyes and scream, "Why can't you keep your fucking legs closed?" FML

Halloween

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.

You need to sit your son down and explain while he does have a right to be upset, he is not allowed to disrespect either of you no matter how mad he is. It will take some time for him to adjust but he eventually will. Sometimes it'll be hard like when he has to share and as they get older he might even get easily annoyed. I am 13 years older than my youngest brother, I just turned 20 and he just turned 7. It might help if as they get older they do something together like family game night to fond a good bond between them.

Technically the kid is right though...

I understand his feelings but he needs an attitude adjustment. Hope you don't tolerate him. All the best, OP! Congratulations! :)

sorry OP but YDI for letting him grow to that age behaving like that. i'm sure this isn't the first time a tantrum like that has been thrown.

As bad as that is for a ten year old to say, it's pretty funny. Sorry!

YDI for allowing your child to be such a spoiled brat.

I would smack that boy across his face

Well there is always adoption. For your oldest child.

I really wish people would stop laying 100% of the blame on the parents on every single FML to do with misbehaving children. My brother was absolutely awful when he was about 12. He would be fine sometimes, but sometimes he would swear at everyone, make our mother cry, trash the house, and get into incredible tantrums. And it had NOTHING to do with the quality of his upbringing- my mother is wonderful. Me and my sisters were pretty normal, well-behaved kids, so clearly something else was having an effect on my brother and his bad behaviour was not the result of bad parenting. You cannot watch your kids 100% of the time, particularly when they start to get older. They become their own person and are influenced by a range of things/people. Attributing every example of bad behaviour to bad parenting is a very oversimplified way of looking at it.
