Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend thought it'd be romantic to take me to a strip club for our 1-year anniversary. FML
Today, my boyfriend brought me home flowers and candy for the first time in our one-year relationship. Thinking he was going to finally propose, I got excited. I asked why he was being so sweet, and he responded with, "I thought you'd take the breakup better this way." FML
Today, it's my 8 year anniversary. My boyfriend's "romantic" gesture for the occasion was to toss a few McDonald's coupons at me and tell me to get whatever I wanted. FML
Today, on the way out to buy groceries, my boyfriend asked if I'd like him to buy some of my favourite flowers. Happy with his rare show of affection, I said yes. When he returned, he gave me a bag of our usual brand of flour and laughed hysterically in my face. FML
Today, I woke up and my husband said he got me a gift for our one year anniversary and that it was on the table. We laid around cuddling and when I finally got up I was expecting to walk out to beautiful bouquet of flowers. I got two packs of cigarettes. FML
Today, my boyfriend gave me a fancy chocolate candy and I got angry at him for forgetting that I'm allergic to chocolate and threw the candy into the garbage disposal. Turns out, he had spent a ton of money getting a chocolatier to put an engagement ring inside the candy that I just destroyed. FML
Today, it was our 12th anniversary. My husband only remembered because family members texted to wish us a happy anniversary. When he went out to the store to get groceries, he didn't even buy me flowers. He's also irritated that I "seem sad or something." FML
Today, I surprised my girlfriend with flowers and dinner reservations for our one-year anniversary. She looked confused and said, “Wait, we’re counting from the first time we hung out?” It turns out she thought we were still “just talking.” She also has a boyfriend. It’s not me. FML
Today, my husband bought me a present for our three year anniversary. It was a pack of 20 cigarettes. I don't smoke. He does. FML
Today, I was spending time with my boyfriend for our one year anniversary. Trying to be romantic, I told him that I loved him and I was so glad I was with him. He responded by giving me a thumbs-up and turning back to the TV. FML

Why ARE you upset? He didn't forget. He even remembered an insignificant detail about you. Most people would find that cute.

i would've loved the fact that my guy paid attention to a small detail like that. i was married for 12 years to a man that couldn't even remember (i.e. care) that i liked mayonnaise on my burger. trust me, it's the little things - sounds like he gets that.

Every single comment so far has called OP a spoiled little bitch, or some YDI variation. I don't think I've ever seen the FML community so unified in the cause of justice before. Congratulations everyone, this is a proud moment indeed.

A proud moment for the cause of sheer stupidity indeed. All a bunch of small children who never had a relationship, whining like the little bitches they are just because they, you included, COMPLETELY missed the point of the FML. This isn't about monetary value of the gift, kids!! It's about an adult relationship!! WTF, kids. Adults can easily buy their own junk candy as they wish. When there's an important occasion, you want to have your significant other remember it with something actually romantic, like a special dinner with only the two of them, or a nice date in a meaningful place for them, or anything cool like that. Not a crappy bucket full of some fattening thing that most women wouldn't get to eat the whole thing before it goes bad anyway!! (Fyi, we don't have the metabolism we had when we were your age, kids... we no longer CAN eat entire buckets of candy anyway!) It's not about him having to give her something expensive, it's about them doing something romantic and adult... So obviously, candy bucket = a no no for such an important occasion.

Well someone got all riled up didn't they? Forget your prune juice for breakfast this morning did we?

#88 - Unless I've missed some key detail, the FML does NOT state the OP's age ANYWHERE. For all you know the OP could be in high school.

How do you know the OP isn't like 16?

To #88: I'm pretty sure Twizzlers are fat free, and is it even possible for them to go bad? I bet you could eat a sealed twizzler 10 years later. (I work at a wholesale club, so I'm assuming the bucket was one of those big ones of individually wrapped twizzler pieces...)

A year isn't even enough time to test your relationship by going through significant hardships together. Why expect jewelry or anything else other than the small stuff that reminds him of you and vice versa? Stop being a bitch.

Firstly, be glad you have a boyfriend. Secondly, be glad he remembered your anniversary. Thirdly, be glad that he got you something you enjoyed.

It's better than nothing. I'd be happy to get a bucket of Twizzlers from someone I love.

What did you get for HIM, OP? You have no right to be bitching about a sweet gift anyway, but I have to wonder what you gave him? Gold-studded male thong? Diamond-crusted nose ring? What was it that so made the bucket of twizlers pale in comparison?
