Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my fiancé asked for money to bail his brother out of jail, the same brother who happily spent a whole day recently trying to convince my fiancé that I've been cheating on him with my own cousin. So I said no. He shook his head in disgust and said that I'm "unbelievably spiteful". FML
Today, my boyfriend called me explaining that he is getting married this weekend to a woman he met on Craigslist. Why? Because I won't marry him, and he'll make an extra thousand dollars per month having a wife since he is in the army. FML
Today, my dad is refusing to let me marry my fiancé because he said no when my dad asked for a loan of £10,000 to help clear some gambling debts. Apparently that shows my fiancé has poor family values and will be a bad father and an alcoholic husband. Impressive logical thinking there. FML
Today, it's been two years since my fiancé proposed, drunk, and with no ring. Recently, I overheard him on a Zoom call with a work colleague who'd not talked to him since he was with his last girlfriend, who was much more attractive than I am. The colleague asked if they were still together and he lied and said yes. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he's prepared to commit to marriage, but only if I buy my own ring and tell everyone he surprised me with it. FML
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
Today, my fiancé told me that he expects me to agree to quit my job to cook and clean after we get married, or he will not show up at our wedding. He earns minimum wage and my salary is 17 times higher than his. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, I was supposed to get married. Instead, my sister made up a story about me cheating on my fiancé at the bachelorette party. He bought it and dumped me, despite there being no evidence of this. Turns out it was all a plan because they were secretly seeing each other for months. FML
Today, my dad had a chat with my fiancé, telling him he can do better than me, and to think carefully before going through with our wedding. FML

4 years ago he proposed and he is still just your fiance? I'm not judging just curious.

They are well aware of the fact that you met him before he was rich, they just don't like you.

I hope you take this as a sign to end your engagement OP. You don't deserve that from anyone. Tell him money can't buy you love...or respect. That's so rude.

I would understand if it was just your fiances family, but reading the FML, it sounds like your fiancé is accusing you too. Did his family convince him or is it just the family.

OP is in India, so the families probably have a lot more influence on who marries whom. Money is also a huge factor, so my guess is that OP's family has more money than the guy's ramily had before he got rich, so they were good with the marriage before. Now that he's loaded they think that he can do better.

Offer to sign a prenup

Op shouldn't have to prove her love and commitment by signing a prenup in my opinion. The fact that she stayed with him while he was penniless and unemployed, as well as through him working hard and getting rich, proves her commitment and unwavering love.

Plus we don't know that the op doesn't deserve some of that money. Maybe op has stayed home with and raised their kids while he's been working, or maybe she's done things and made great sacrifices to help him get rich in the first place. A marriage is about joining together and although I don't think prenups are bad, I don't think they need to be signed as it often takes the support and love and sacrifice of the person you love to be able to make that money in the first place, therefore giving her a right to some of it, beyond the fact that they are choosing to "share" their life together. I say she's proved herself enough.

A lot of times parents will convince their children to do/say something the child himself doesn't want to do/say. His parents probably just don't like you, and are unfortunately convincing him to say something stupid

F*** his b**** a**. I'm pretty sure that if you weren't there helping and supporting his broke a** 4 years ago he'd be begging you for change l as you drive by in your Maserati! You know the one you would have been able to afford if it wasn't for taking care of his broke tail. Take all your shit and half of the furniture and electronics. The big tvs and leather stuff. just leave him the bed to remind him that he won't be getting any for a long time.

That's just so sad OP. It must be hard but make sure he deserves a chance before discussing it. The Richness may have changed him.

That sucks op, some people only have money on their mind (unlike Sam smith) and it makes them horrible people, I can understand the family being like that but your fiancée saying that is just wrong!
