Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my fiancé asked for money to bail his brother out of jail, the same brother who happily spent a whole day recently trying to convince my fiancé that I've been cheating on him with my own cousin. So I said no. He shook his head in disgust and said that I'm "unbelievably spiteful". FML
Today, my boyfriend called me explaining that he is getting married this weekend to a woman he met on Craigslist. Why? Because I won't marry him, and he'll make an extra thousand dollars per month having a wife since he is in the army. FML
Today, my dad is refusing to let me marry my fiancé because he said no when my dad asked for a loan of £10,000 to help clear some gambling debts. Apparently that shows my fiancé has poor family values and will be a bad father and an alcoholic husband. Impressive logical thinking there. FML
Today, it's been two years since my fiancé proposed, drunk, and with no ring. Recently, I overheard him on a Zoom call with a work colleague who'd not talked to him since he was with his last girlfriend, who was much more attractive than I am. The colleague asked if they were still together and he lied and said yes. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he's prepared to commit to marriage, but only if I buy my own ring and tell everyone he surprised me with it. FML
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
Today, my fiancé told me that he expects me to agree to quit my job to cook and clean after we get married, or he will not show up at our wedding. He earns minimum wage and my salary is 17 times higher than his. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, I was supposed to get married. Instead, my sister made up a story about me cheating on my fiancé at the bachelorette party. He bought it and dumped me, despite there being no evidence of this. Turns out it was all a plan because they were secretly seeing each other for months. FML
Today, my dad had a chat with my fiancé, telling him he can do better than me, and to think carefully before going through with our wedding. FML

4 years ago he proposed and he is still just your fiance? I'm not judging just curious.

They are well aware of the fact that you met him before he was rich, they just don't like you.

His family is just looking for an excuse and your fiancé is standing by his family unknown to the bitter truth

People will think what they want. You know the truth.

I'm sorry, OP. He sounds like a jerk. Clearly he forgot that you were with him in the lean times. Perhaps the family found someone they think is more suitable. Cut your losses and move on.

Did you tell him this?

Gosh thank you all so much for the support. I felt an explanation is in order here. My now ex fiance and I lived together for nearly a year before he asked. He then moved out of the country for work and I had to stay back as I was still in medical school at the time. Things seemed fine. He would occasionally visit. I still haven't figured out where I screwed up things so bad. He isn't quite a mama's boy though and the only explanation I can come up with is that I ain't good enough for him anymore. Things have gone from bad to worse here. He left without a word this morning and his mum is of the opinion that I should get over the fact that I don't fit in his life anymore. Honestly, I am kind of hoping he comes around but I guess that's just wishful thinking. Meanwhile thank you all so much for the nice words. It has helped ease the burden a bit.

Oh and to those who are as broke as I am and wondering how to get rich in 4 years. 1. Get a loan and fly off to another country. 2. Save up for the first year. 3. Work on your strengths while you're there. Everyone loves a hardworking foreigner. 4. Meanwhile, dump your fiance of 4 years. He's into computers and winning. I am a doctor and still struggling to get anywhere. So, career options matter too :)

Tell them this "fiancé " can make his "finance" stronger
