Man or woman?

Today, I sent a cover letter to a potential employer. In the letter, I talked about my great attention to detail, my strong ability to focus, and my stellar writing skills. After hitting send, I reread the letter and noticed that I typed my name "B-R-A-I-N." My name is Brian. FML

I agree, your life sucks (9584) - you totally deserved it (35253)

Ummm that's why you read your letters before you send it.... you deserved that.

He'd be like "Show-off, now i know you're lying!"

#84 - On 07/31/2009 at 9:13pm by mattmalin11

"BRAIN": double fail!

#2 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:12am by factory

you know what tonight is? the night we take over the world!

#3 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:14am by Serial

Just say it's your nickname or something. If you wrote about how intelligent you are, "Brain" might be appropriate...

#4 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:23am by vxjazz

Just say it was a joke, no big deal.

#5 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:23am by junjouromantica

You could shorten this FML by a lot... here.. "I can't spell my own name. FML"

Or... "I'm too lazy to proofread my own resume but I still think I'm going to get hired. FML"

#6 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:26am by planetearth

#3 wins. No other comments are needed.

#7 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:38am by reader1

wasn't there an fml just like this not too long ago...

#8 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:46am by suicidekings

If he doesn't reply, obviously he's not pondering what you're pondering.

#9 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:48am by madbadsad

lol That sucks. :[ I've done something before where I called a man "Miss" when addressing the letter. Oops. We all make little mistakes like that. ;[

#10 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:49am by Minstrels

#3 FTW!

Always always always proof read shit like that before you send it. Especially when it can mean the difference between getting a job and not.

#11 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:53am by Jimboom

He might think it is a witty stunt?

#12 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:00am by philopastry

Ummm.......... Proof read

#13 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:10am by imadonkeymoo

You should proof read everything if it's typed. Duh you deserved that for proof reading after you sent it! :oP

#14 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:18am by acro_actress95

Great attention to detail? You shouldn't lie about these things since apparently you don't have them.

#15 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:32am by This_Guy

Lmfao u deserved that one

#16 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:16am by musicaddict79

So if you do get hired and they call you brain, would you say you spelled your name wrong or stick with brain for the rest of your career? :D

#17 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:20am by fylives

When you meet ur employer, you should tell him that all ur friends call u brain, and that ur just used to typing it, so it was atomatic.

#18 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:21am by AnniZee_74

Gloating is such a waste of time.

#19 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:40am by Stunt

that's why you re read it BEFORE hitting send, not after.duh.

#20 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:44am by audiogasmic

You are officially stupid.

#22 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:10am by stellarxx

#3 ftw

#23 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:18am by omglolydi

Lol YDI.

#24 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:25am by iWaddle

HAHAHAA #3

#25 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:29am by ravinshrestha

HA! Here's news, buddy. They probably won't hire you.

#26 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:38am by s_babyyyx3

That's why people usually proofread stuff before sending it.

#27 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:39am by Bleep

I lol'd way too loud while being in class.

specially @ comment #3 lolollo

#28 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:58am by neminems

Your supposed to proof it BEFORE you send it out.

#29 - On 04/16/2009 at 10:13am by Majormaxo

Just to console you - a lot of times people read really fast and don't really notice these things. Like Brain as against Brian or Field Vs Feild or recieve Vs receive.... I hope you get the drift. FYI - I have been involved in recruiting in my company.

#30 - On 04/16/2009 at 10:35am by brownman

that's why you read it first. your name should be: no Brain

#31 - On 04/16/2009 at 10:40am by AntiChrist7

PROOF READ IT DUMMY!

#32 - On 04/16/2009 at 10:49am by dsteves4life

Say it's your nickname. My girlfriend's brother is named Brian but people call him Brain. Try it.

#33 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:01am by firebrand111

LMAO! #6, I second that.

This is just so hilarious. If it wasn't in error, terribly witty too.

#34 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:16am by Mahidevran

Classic.

:)

#35 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:16am by jSOPURE

stellar writing skills includes proofreading.....

#36 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:28am by Leviathan

#30. True

#37 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:50am by ChrsR

Dudes, am I the only one who thought this wasn't an FML because he made a typo, but because he's afraid the potential employer will read about him saying how smart he is, and think he's just being a snotty douchebag by signing "Brain" at the end?

#39 - On 04/16/2009 at 11:54am by PTERONOPHOBIA

Dude, that's pretty cocky. "Sincerely, THE BRAIN!!!!!!!"

#40 - On 04/16/2009 at 12:01pm by mpdude8

Proof read. YDI. Hopefully you'll learn when you don't get the job.

#41 - On 04/16/2009 at 12:33pm by hipprep83

You don't know how to spell your own name... that's just pitiful :(.

#42 - On 04/16/2009 at 1:05pm by xkaokaox

Family Guy??????

#43 - On 04/16/2009 at 1:51pm by Occam

sucks to be you. lol.

#44 - On 04/16/2009 at 1:59pm by fueledbyamy

we all make that mistake, but uhmm... thats called proofreading. not an FML.
YDI for bragging.

#45 - On 04/16/2009 at 2:48pm by krankypoptart

I do that sometimes, but it's your own name. Ironic, seeing as you clearly don't have a brain. Proof-read?

#46 - On 04/16/2009 at 2:53pm by basketballbabee

This is why you always always always proof read your resumes and cover letters before sending them. Don't expect a call back from them. lol

#47 - On 04/16/2009 at 3:15pm by Miss_Tyff

I feel your pain! I have an ex named Brian and I always used to mistype his name as Brain, haha.

#48 - On 04/16/2009 at 3:32pm by kellster

Lol thats sucha huge fail.

#49 - On 04/16/2009 at 4:21pm by xRUINERx

if ur lucky he will misread it and think it says brian

#50 - On 04/16/2009 at 4:25pm by BboyHero

Agreed #27 and #29

#51 - On 04/16/2009 at 4:39pm by Quinnjamin

why would you reread your letter after you send it and not before?

#52 - On 04/16/2009 at 4:47pm by dan81892

You typed your name in full caps and with dashes? I don't think they would have accepted you anyway. (If you have such great writing skills you should know how to use quotation marks).

Regardless if it's not too late try playing it off as a joke.

#53 - On 04/16/2009 at 5:55pm by b5200

HAHA #3. Egads Brain! NARF!

#54 - On 04/16/2009 at 6:48pm by thekraken

#3 wins.

#56 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:29pm by quackquackquac

>> After hitting send, I reread the letter

Wrong order.

#57 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:44pm by TydusArandor

Usually you read it over and /then/ send it... especially if it's to a possible employer.

#58 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:50pm by Oriina

i dont get #3's comment????

#59 - On 04/16/2009 at 7:59pm by hootersgirl09

i don't believe this one. the same thing happened in the movie "Igor"

#60 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:16pm by kingsolomon89

Wow how ironic

#61 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:36pm by Jem0_0

#59, that's a 'Pinky & the Brain' reference

#62 - On 04/16/2009 at 8:37pm by Jem0_0

This really stinks. We've all had typos before. On the other hand, this is why you can't just trust spell check. Obviously, rereading it before sending would have been wise, especially for something so important.

#63 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:27pm by synchroskater

after hitting send... fail

#64 - On 04/16/2009 at 9:39pm by Epic_Fail_Sauce

It's not a big a deal as you might think.... just tell them that you typed your thing up in Word/whatever, pasted, signed your name quickly and hit send accidentally.

#65 - On 04/16/2009 at 10:27pm by hellFighter

My dad's middle name is Brian, and on his wedding license he also wrote Brain. haha don't worry its not that big of a mistake. It happens. They might not even notice.

#66 - On 04/17/2009 at 12:36am by california512

LOL!

Ahhh my bf's name is spelt as Bryan hehe have friends as Brian..
& have mistyped it as Brain sometimes - not your fault hehe but then again,
quite an important letter, you should have checked it again

#67 - On 04/17/2009 at 12:59am by endless63

JUST GO WITH IT DUDE!

#68 - On 04/17/2009 at 2:15am by frequentuser

This could almost qualify as an example of Muphry's Law in action...

#69 - On 04/17/2009 at 11:20am by l33tm0nk3y

if you're going to brag about how you pay attention to detail, actually pay attention to detail.

#70 - On 04/17/2009 at 12:23pm by Prisoner_24601

Roll with it. If you stick to the fiction hard enough they'll never now, Brain.

#71 - On 04/17/2009 at 2:12pm by cheesefest

they might think you were being clever .

#72 - On 04/17/2009 at 6:18pm by gabeepicfails

Yeah, #60 is right.
In Igor, his name is Brain, but it was spelled Brian.

#73 - On 04/17/2009 at 9:14pm by LovesickMelody

lol, that will certainly get u the job!

#74 - On 04/18/2009 at 4:42am by hattar

thats why you check the letter BEFORE you send it, especially if you're typing it out on the computer. sometimes if its on Word the words change automatically too. but yes. i agree with #1, u deserved that :P

#75 - On 04/18/2009 at 9:53am by ub6ib9

This is the most non-funny FML I have ever read.

#76 - On 04/18/2009 at 6:27pm by LaurenDTF

You better hope your potential employer is dyslexic

#77 - On 04/19/2009 at 8:14am by xHaniffax

that's hilarious!

#78 - On 04/22/2009 at 3:43pm by loverainydays

Proof-reading BEFORE you send is... wait for it... A NO-BRAINER!

#79 - On 04/25/2009 at 4:29am by missus_butter

Comment FAIL!!! #3 is one of the ONLY good comments here... and I doubt anyone who wrote a sucky comment even gets it.

#80 - On 04/26/2009 at 2:19pm by bekawild

You should have not been hired for using the word "stellar" XD

#81 - On 05/01/2009 at 10:42am by AskingForIt

It's a ducking misspell. Grow up. It's not even 'Hmmm... There is nothing really terrible going on in my life right now, and it's just kinda average and all but some tweensy gay little thing happened that kinda sorta irritated me' material.

---Cassy

#82 - On 06/05/2009 at 1:02am by xocassylovesyou

Why would you send it and THEN read it?

#83 - On 06/05/2009 at 4:15pm by happygoluckyhh

FAIL !!!
lol
xD
be more careful in the future...sorry but....YDI.

#85 - On 08/04/2009 at 6:04am by AlexxxN

ALWAYS check the spelling to make sure it's correct. Honestly, idiots these days…

#86 - On 08/06/2009 at 11:28pm by antonioohama

Play it off and pretend that you were being an ass by showing off how smart you by calling yourself Brain
