Today, I saw a psychiatrist for the first time. After telling her everything I'm going through, she looked at me and said "You know… every five years or so I get a case completely beyond my ability to help." I guess it's been five years. FML

Today, I had somewhat of a nervous breakdown, and poured my heart out to a doctor, who seemed to be well over 60. She looked at me, flabbergasted and said, "I never met anyone with that many problems!" Gee, thanks. FML
Today, I've been seeing a therapist after more than 20 years of struggles. I think I saw him cry during our sessions a few times. I guess that my inability to live my life at the fullest was hard earned. FML
Today, my psychiatrist of 6 years suddenly and out of nowhere told me I need to see someone else. She gave me the equivalent of the "it's not you, it's me" speech. Actually her assistant told me via email. I basically got broken up with by someone I was paying a lot of money to talk to. FML
Today, my psychiatrist said, "Well, good luck." at the end of my appointment. FML
Today, my therapist told me, "I'm sorry, but I'm not qualified to handle your level of instability." FML
Today, the psychiatrist who I've been relying on to evaluate my condition to give me some real help, who I've been waiting on my appointment with for three months, suddenly rescheduled me until February next year. Why? Because she's "not working that day". I can't afford to see anyone else. FML
Today, I had my first appointment with my new therapist. After I told her my family history and past abusive situations, she looked at me and asked, "How are you still sane?" FML
Today, my therapist told me she can’t see me by herself anymore because frankly I have so many problems, I need separate therapists, each with their own specialties, to work together on me as a team. I didn’t think it was that bad. FML
Today, my mom read my diary. Then she frantically booked me an appointment with a psychiatrist. FML
Today, I went to see a therapist for the first time because I've been feeling depressed lately. I opened up and said everything that was on my mind. I really spilled my guts. After a good 30 minutes, her first question was, "Do you always talk this much?" FML

no one is a helpless case op. when some therapist cant answer an issue, others can. everyone thinks differently. you'll find someone who will know how to approach your situation.

A good one will not only recognize if they can't help, they will refer you to someone who can. Mi is a huge range and not every doc is good with everything. It's worth the fight to find the right doc and get better.

#5 - haha, good one! For the record, there is actually a cure, (transfusion of blood/bone narrow from person who is immune as a result of a genetic mutation) but it's a costly and dangerous process. Can be done though :)

Ok, ok guys. I was referring to somehow getting out of a situation from a psychological aspect point of view. ie: if you're upset about something, or stuck in a situation then you can climb out of it, as you yourself or someone else dug the hole for you. Obviously, not from a physical viewpoint such as disease or death - that's outside our control.

She could have just done the whole "how does that make you feel" thing for weeks or months and made a ton of money off you. I actually respect her for being that direct right from the start. And it is not stated that she did not refer the OP to someone else. She was just stating that the OP was beyond her ability to help.

I hope you find a therapy that works for you and a therapist who is able (and willing) to help you. It might take a few tries but it'll be worth the search. all the best to you, op!
