Lots of women get hit on this way alllll the time and it can get very annoying. Maybe she was just tired and not in the mood to be drawn into a conversation. Once two strangers in the street were making flirtatious comments about my legs. I didn't respond and carried on walking, so they decided they would yell at me that I was ugly anyway and I shouldn't think they actually wanted to sleep with me. They followed me saying this until I got up the courage to yell at them back. Quite a frightening experience. Since then I've been wary of men I don't know trying to initiate conversation. Maybe unfair, but that's just the way it is for women.

As much as that's how it happens sometimes, I would never assume that's why someone was talking to me. If the conversation takes a weird turn, sure - be leery. But presuming someone is into you without any indications that it's true is bitchy and just as bad as using lame pickup lines on strangers.

I agree #137. I do try not to assume without giving someone a chance first, unlike the woman in the OP who seriously needs a reality check... But a lot of the time you can just tell. Most people who like to hit on strangers in public places are not really that subtle. Then again, I am from kind of a scummy area. Maybe in other places they're all suave and intelligent, rather than probable football hooligans and/or heroin addicts. :D
