You were clearly dating a superhero. These are textbook signs. He's always busy fighting crime, so it seems like he isn't invested in the relationship, but he can't say anything without giving away his secret identity. So he asks for one last chance and arranges a date to make it all up to you, but wouldn't you know it, at that exact time there just happens to be a burning school full of children.
