Today, my mother told me to 'quit having a pity party'. I was just diagnosed with depression. I've lost my boyfriend, my job, my academic standing, and I just got rejected from every graduate school I applied for. And my mother thinks I'm a cry baby. Great. FML

Today, my wife and I received confirmation that she has postpartum depression. When sharing this with the family, my mother exclaimed "I told you she was a psycho!" Now my wife is crying louder and more often than our newborn. Thanks, mom. FML

Today, my mom found out that I've been having counselling behind her back for the past 4 years. I broke down in tears explaining everything. Her response was, "So you go and bitch about me behind my back?!" And she wonders why I'm depressed. FML

Today, going to my psychiatrist's appointment for my PTSD and depression, my mother yelled about how useless I am and how I torture her existence with my "abnormalities." She told the doctor how much I've improved and become such a delight at home for her and our family. FML

Today, I found myself crying in the bathroom because I started to feel lonely and depressed. My mother came into the bathroom, hearing me cry and gave me an hour long speech about what a beautiful human being I am... And to not forget to lose weight. FML

Today, after having to move home with my parents because I'm broke and can't seem to find a job, my mom found out I'm on anti-depressants. She and my dad will no longer be helping with money because she doesn't like "drugs". FML

People STFU, you dont know anything about depression, and you are no better than her mother. Deprresion is caused, typically, from a chemical inbalance in the brain, or a traumatizing event that scars you, for example your brother attempting suicide. Dont talk down on things you dont know. I have minor depresssion, and did have thoughts of suicide. Its not plessent, and to make it worse, most of us with depression know we have it, which makes us more depressed, because it makes us feel weak. I got out of it luckley because I have a fairly good life, and have freinds and hobbies to occupy myself, where as others may not have the essential tools to fight depression. So again please be respectful and dont call her a cry baby, or beleive that depression means youre weak. If you still think shes weak, than you only desserve to get depression and see how well you cope with it.
