Today, my mom took me to an AA meeting because she said I needed help. I have never tried alcohol in my life, and told them this. I was then harangued by the "instructor" because apparently one of the signs of alcoholism is denial. FML

If you've really never tried alcohol and your mom takes you there... she's got HUGE issues.

My mother's the same way, OP. She thinks that because addiction runs in my dad's family, that I'm an addict. I haven't ever smoked and my sorority made me official designated driver since I don't ever drink. I don't even have sex (I'm asexual) so I have no idea what I'm supposed to be addicted to...

Am I the only only one that feels it's OP's fault for letting their mom drag them there? You could've said no, she couldn't MAKE you go, assuming you're above 18. If not, what the hell did you do to make her think you have an alcohol problem?

YDI for letting her take you there in the first place.
