Today, I was at a Remembrance Day service when an old widow told me I had my "grandad's" medals on the wrong side of my coat. I told her that I was an Afghanistan veteran and that they were mine. She then berated me in front of the WHOLE service for "lying". FML

Today, I went to a veterans' reunion party with my grandpa. While there, a guy started yelling at me for having an unapproved haircut. It was my grandpa's old drill sergeant, and he thought I was in the army too. Everyone just smirked as he forced me to drop and do push-ups. FML

Today, I was working at a retirement center, when an old woman came to me and asked if I would like her old clothes. I politely said, "I'm sorry, but I'm a guy." She then said, "You could have just said no, instead of rudely lying to me." FML

Today, a fake soldier tried to chat me up at a bar. I know he was fake because one of his medals is only given posthumously to soldiers who died in combat, like my own dad, yet this creep was claiming he earned it himself. When I confronted him, he busted out my front teeth before running away. FML

Today, I was pretending to be a veteran for the US Navy at a local outlet, because I was desperate for cheap stuff. All was going well, until an actual vet pointed out that the ship I had on my naval hat was a fictitious one. Shit. FML

Today, at the airport, my mom began talking about how useless the war in Iraq was, and how dumb the soldiers that serve there were for enlisting during the war. The soldier at the vending machine near us caught my eye. I mouthed, "Sorry" and he mouthed, slowly, "You fuckin' better be." FML

In Australia veterans wear their medals on one side while grandsons or relatives representing a veteran wear the medals on the other side, this old woman thought he was supposed to wear the medals on the representing a veteran side of his chest.

Are you kidding me? Think too highly of themselves? It wasn't the vets choice to go to Afghanistan or anywhere else they may have been deployed, but it was their choice to selflessly enlist in the Armed Forces, which is HIGHLY commendable. I'd like to see you even attempt to do the same. DOUCHEBAG. OP- Thank you for selflessly fighting to protect the Freedom which many take for granted.

We went to Afghanistan to destroy a corrupt theocracy that didn't let women have any rights, killed homosexuals on principal, drafted children to be suicide bombers, and was one of the most opressive regimes in recent memory. OP - thanks for serving. From one vet to another.

You are a ******* idiot. Veterans have every right to think highly of themselves. They risk their lives at war so ungrateful morons like you can live in a democratic country where you are not forced to do anything. If you think they shouldn't, go and try living in Afghanistan, and see how you like all your rights taken away from you. To the OP: thank you for serving. It takes an amazing person to serve in the armed forces.
