LAPD? I bet he wanted to hook up with your girlfriend.
if he tackled you to the ground, you coulda gotten up on one knee. it was gonna be cliche either way man :)
Well if it's true good for the police officer for being on top of things.
You know, this would also work from the cop's perspective. "Today, I tackled a guy in a fancy restaurant. Why? I'm a cop, I was off-duty, and I thought I saw him slip a pill into his date's drink. Turned out he was going to propose to her, and had put the ring in her champagne glass. FML"
Look at it this way: you now have a much more interesting engagement story to tell your children and grandchildren when they ask about it.
So did you ask later ? Did she say yes or is she into cops ?
The cop should of not of tackled u. He should of walked up to u like a normal human being and asked than u explain. FYL.

Putting a ring in food/drink is a stupid idea in the first place, there's this think called "choking". (:
Wow way to go Officer Jump the Gun. You could have always tackled him on the way out after you were sure you knew what was going on... No, I do not know why i'm talking as if the police officer is here... :P
