Today, I proposed to my girlfriend with the cliché of the diamond ring in a champagne glass. Apparently there was an off-duty police officer across the room watching me slip the ring into the glass. He thought I was slipping in a date-rape drug and tackled me down before I could propose. FML

Oh, but it IS professional and consistent with the Cretaceous Period raptor laws of taking out prey. In this case, the OP was the cop's prey, and he pounced and took out the object of desire since the food at whatever restaurant they were eating at was horrendously unsatisfactory. omnomnom

You win. No doubt about it. OP - WHY would you admit that the ring in the champagne glass is cliche, but still do it? Sure, the police officer may have been a little out of line tackling you (assuming that you're not exaggerating), but he's probably seen plenty of rape victims and doesn't want to risk it happening to anyone else if he can prevent it

That makes no sense at all. How can tackle (a normal type attack) be effective against anything? Everyone knows that normal type attacks are by virtue not 'super effective' against anything.
