Today, I had just gotten home after being away for 8 months. My key didn’t work on my lock and while I was messing the door a man with a child opened. My landlord gave someone my apartment while I was away. FML

Same thing different taste

Today, I got back to my apartment from being away for the past week on Spring break. I found the locks on my apartment changed and all my things on the curb, many of them broken or stolen. I ran to the leasing office to see what had happened. Turns out it was an accounting error on their part. FML

Today, after being in Europe for a month, I got home to find my door wide open and all my stuff gone. I called my dad who was supposed to be watching my house. He told me I should have had someone check on my place while I was gone. FML

Today, I accidentally locked myself out of my apartment while taking the trash out, without my phone. I had to wait outside for three hours until my flatmate came home from work to let me back in. FML

Today, I left a note on the kitchen table saying to leave the door unlocked because I lost my key. I come home to find our house ransacked and robbed. Minutes later, I found my key. In my pocket. FML

Today, I was back home from work drinking coffee when I heard someone open the door with a key. It was my boyfriend, who obviously didn't expect to see me home. We don't live together, and I never gave him a key. FML

Today, my roommate asked me to lock the door as we left our place. I told her to use my keys, because my hands were full. Afterwards, she and her boyfriend set off out of town for the next couple of days. She forgot to give me back my keys. FML

Today, I replaced the battery in a closet’s electronic keypad door lock, and I accidentally locked myself inside. My family was traveling, so I had to call a neighbor. He got me out, but took pictures and posted them to social media. FML

If you were still paying rent, this probably violates your tenant's agreement. Especially if s/he knew you were leaving. And what happened to your stuff? And where were you for eight months?

Update: Ok first wow! Didn’t expect anything from posting this craziness but ok. First off yes I was still paying rent. It turned out that it was a family friend of the landlord. He was leaving what I assume is an abusive spouse. All my belongs were as I left them and he had even stocked my fridge. I let them stay for a while (two months more) he was in the process of getting his own apartment in the same complex ready: they had to tear up carpet so what was supposed to be a day or two turned into my entire trip and two extra months. He has three kids and they were lively but sweet and never bothered me. Thanks to everyone who kept along for the update I’m sorry there’s no big lawsuit or evil villain landlord.
