Today, and all day, I was forced to listen to one of the kids in my apartment building play their recorder loudly and horribly. She started over whenever she missed a note. I was sick, was getting a migraine from it, and couldn't ask her to stop without her mom yelling at me. FML

Today, I was woken up to my mom playing the piano awfully. I screamed down the stairs "you suck, stop playing!" Turns out it was my 5 year old cousin playing a recital. For my entire family. FML

Today, I was doing homework in the living room when my mom came in and started blasting music and cleaning. When I asked if she could turn it off so I could study, she bitched at me about "My house, my rules." She also has a rule that we can’t do homework in our rooms because of too many distractions. FML

Today, after our teacher had said this class would be very important and that we should take notes, instead of writing notes, I brought a recorder to class. After class, I listened to the recording, and all I could hear was muffled voices. FML

Today, I had my high school piano recital. The entire time I was playing, one of my classmates sitting up front kept booing me and yelling "YOU SUCK" at the top of his lungs. He drowned out the entire song. FML

Today, every time I practice my synthesizer, without fail, my stepmom decides to make as much noise as humanly possible. Slamming doors, stomping around in her loudest heels, dropping weights, screaming, you name it. I can hear her through my noise cancelling headphones and I can’t focus. FML

Today, while eating breakfast in a hotel lobby, the woman next to me started playing an obnoxious clip of a baby’s high-pitched crying. The worst part is that my parents refused to let me do anything about it or step away from the loud noise, as they thought it would “embarrass the whole family.” FML

That's part of apartment living unfortunately. I'm sometimes woken up at 2 AM to the sound my neighbors having sex.

When I started playing guitar and bass I wouldnt start over when I missed/or hit a wrong note I just kept going and work on it while I'm working the rest of the song also. :)

Have you thought about complaining to the apartment manager? They should be able to talk to the mom about it. Have had to do that in the past when some neighbors were playing music so loud we couldn't sleep. Otherwise, I agree with others about getting earplugs and a white noise generator - those can definitely help.

Call the cops for sound disturbance, quick fix. thyd get a warning and it'd shut her up for you to have peace and quite. Put them in their place, they share the appartment

Not as bad as me. My neighbor next door have a little 8 years old girl. She keeps playing her saxophone everyday for hours even though it sounds like me farting... And the worst is during exams time, can't study...

I'm the OP. Oh man did this day suck... Migraine all day, kids running up and down the stairs, screaming, and that damn droning recorder... Dx Hated that day so much! It was my only day off that week too. Of course it just HAD to be a weekend as well... -sigh-
