Today, after my son's new friend spent the night, I commented on how his hair had such a straight line in it from one ear to the other. I joked about how he must have fallen asleep with headphones on, or had bad hat hair. He informed me it was a scar from brain surgery he had when he was younger. FML

My boyfriend is a brain cancer survivor that has several visible scars and he tells me that it doesn't bother him in the least when people notice. Unless this kid is just a prick to begin with, it's not a big deal. You just pointed out something you noticed which is true, and he is probably used to it.

Or unless the problem wasn't corrected, or he wasn't given appropriate counseling before and after the surgery to deal with the trauma of having to talk to the surgeons while they are cutting up your brain

Not an FML. I have a scar just like it and i get comments all the time. The kid probably didnt care. poor attempt at relating though, haha
