Today, I was at work as a cashier. An old lady unbagged everything I had, and angrily "taught" me how to bag. She put potatoes on her eggs and broke them. She then screamed that I was useless and retarded in front of all my other customers and manager. FML

Today, a customer yelled at me because I gave her a wrinkled bag. I work in retail, and the bags are all cheap plastic. She wouldn't stop, even when I gave her 3 different bags. FML

Today, while bagging my groceries at a store, a lady came over to me, took a good look at the food I'd bought, picked out an item and put it in her bag. When I confronted her, she called security on me and told them I wanted to steal her stuff. I got thrown out and she walked away with a smirk. FML

Today, I placed an order at a fast food joint, when the elderly lady behind me cussed me out for ordering the same thing she wanted. She ranted that I was a "dirty thief", while everyone else glared at me as if I was holding up the line. What the fuck? FML

Today, at work, I had a customer accuse me of taking the giftcard I had issued her for her return, after spending 15 minutes trying to fix her screwed up transaction. She began to yell, and follow me around the store. Security had to intervene and I had to be locked in an office until she left. FML

Today, while buying paint, I began to help an elderly woman working to lift some heavy boxes. She told me what a nice young lady I was. Then her boss came over, screamed at her for being lazy and fired her. She cried. So did I. FML

Today, my manager cussed me out for being unable to keep a customer happy. That "customer" was a senile old twit who had wandered away from his carer, thought our shop was his living room, and demanded to know who replaced all his furniture. FML

Today, I was waiting in line while a lady paid for her shopping, when her credit card got declined. She started ranting and insulting everyone and kept insisting: "I'm not poor!" By the time the lady had finally stormed off, I had spittle on my face, and the cashier was almost in tears. FML

Today, I assisted my first customer at my first job as a Target cashier. When I rang up this lady's items and gave her the total, not only did she hiss at me and spit in my face, but she also dragged my manager over and demanded that he fire me. He did. FML

I feel your pain. I was a cashier for 5 years at a small store that catered to older folks. It taught me the invaluable skill of being able to show empathy toward anyone working in retail. Everyone should have to do it once.

I work as a cashier and I deal with this quite often. We have bagging refreshers once every 3 months, so we all know what we're doing is proper according to company standards. But you still have the people who do that. The sad thing is some people have nothing better to do then treat cashiers like shit because They had a bad day. Where I work a lot of customers treat us like we aren't even human. The amount of times I get yelled at because something isn't in stock, when it's not my job as a cashier to order the stock or put it on the shelves is ridiculous. Don't worry OP you will get a much thicker skin, and it'll roll of your shoulders. Just be glad you aren't like my small store and have to clean the bathrooms like the cashiers/office workers do where I am. The things some people do because they think it's funny is disgusting. I wish I could find them and force them to clean it up.

I hate how old people use their age to act obnoxious, bitchy, and downright RUDE and think they can get away with it just because they're elderly. Especially when you are trying to help them...........not okay.

That goes both ways. I ******* hate obnoxious ***** my age who steal, beat, and are rude to my elders. I wish I could **** punt every ******* one of them. 91 year old woman in my neighbor was jacked and PUNCHED in the face walking out of church. Police didn't have to do a thing the kids in my neighbor jumped the ******. Maybe more of our elders wouldn't act that way if asshats didn't make them fear walking a block from church to their home.
