Probably for the best

Today, I was told that I was no longer being considered for the Prison Officer job I have been interviewed for, because a social media check showed I had liked a picture of drugs, so my character is inappropriate. I thought it was a picture of candy. I've never even tried weed. FML

If you're that innocent, it's probably for the best that you don't work in a prison, OP

How do you mix up weed and candy? And why like a picture of candy??

My Facebook name is not my real name because I DO work in a prison - keeps the ex-inmates and their buddies out of my business. But this is a clear example of why you should really think before you post anything to social media. It's well known that employers do their research to gauge potential employees' characters. It's an unfortunate mistake you made, OP. I hope you can correct it with your potential employer.

oh from the comments maybe I misunderstood the post... I thought you were implying you had a picture of candy that got mistaken for some type of pill by the interviewer when you yourself have never partaken in drugs at all.

They might have been looking for an excuse not to hire you for the job?

Not to sound cruel but you might be to innocent for such a job. If you don't know the difference between candies and drugs from sight ..

There are plenty of drugs that are disguised as candy. No visual difference. And the average person won't research all internet images they come across...

This is why all my Facebook posts are only set to Friends. I don't have anything public except my cover photos and my current profile picture. I suggest going to Settings and limit your previous posts to friends only. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

If your settings are set as public, YDI. You need to know who can read your posts before posting away.

You should probably make all your profiles private.

The most basic person with computer skills of any kind that are obviously specifically chosen to do background checks can easily go past privacy settings, if it's on the internet it's out there. Just don't be stupid and post inappropriate stupid things

its standard for all jobs clean up your shit best u just get rid of all social media since they can look up stuff u deleted

Lmao if you're that soft, you'll become less of a prison guard and more of an Ass rape doll
