OCD FML

Today, I was convinced I hadn't locked up properly when leaving work, and almost had a panic attack at the train station. I went all the way back into work, to find I had in fact locked up properly. It made me nearly two hours late home. This isn't the first time I've done this. FML

You guys, it's not Alzheimer's or OCD or anything. All humans experience the phenomenon known as douchebag brain. Douchebag brain is the main source of short term forgetfulness, for example: you walk into a room and immediately don't know what you are looking for, or, it makes you always remember to lock your car (or in this case, business) but can't remember if you actually did it or not. We all get it guys...

Focus more or write notes to yourself.

#12, why would OP have to focus more or write notes to herself when she did in fact lock up the place the way she was supposed to?

I do the same thing with my car and then when I'm already in bed I'll get up to lock an already locked car. It's just second guessing yourself. Nothing to be worried about.

You must be a hard worker. Too bad your memory is slightly impaired.

#18, idiots like you on here need to get off. OP's memory isn't impaired, not even slightly. It's called better safe than sorry

How would you know about OPs memory ? He could have something wrong with him.

I do this all the time! I started checking locks and knobs at least five times before I leave. Maybe you should too OP, though though I still find myself wondering if I've done something, even after those five times of checking!

I can sympathize with you. Though I'm nowhere as affected as you seem to be, it's a pretty SHITTY FEELING when your memory betrays you. There's really no way of making sure if your brain doesn't remember, since our realities are defined by what we register in our heads. I don't blame you for wanting to double check, but perhaps you should find a way to record when you lock up by say, writing yourself a note.

Saying it out loud really helps. It works with placing things down, too, like your keys. Say, if you placed them on your dresser, just say out loud " I placed my keys on the dresser" I guarantee you will find them easily later.

Seems you have a condition called CRS. What is it? Can't remember shit

No, I'm pretty sure she meant CRS. If she meant OCD she would've said it.

Hahahah it's kinda obvious... CRS = Can't Remember Shit. xD

Oooopppss totally wasnt thinking straight xD Im so stupid :L

I'm the same way about stuff:( sometimes I have to triple check things

Maybe you should write a note to yourself or have a checklist that way your certain next time

at least you cared enough to go check! good for you!

Sounds like OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. You are not alone. I know a few people with OCD.

39 - it could be, but not necessarily! I learned in psychology this year that obsessive compulsive disorder is paired with anxiety and is usually characterized by panic attacks due to this anxiety. What makes it obsessive compulsive disorder is when a person has to complete a certain task in order to end the panic attack (in OP's case, going back to work and checking to make sure they locked up properly). I think it's fair to assume that OP may have OCD
