Today, my wife is pissed I bought a $600 drill set on sale for only $200, because the one I had wasn't strong enough for the job i just started at. Yet the $300 I just spent for her to go to a concert isn't even in a the equation. FML

Today, it was my birthday. I'd told my wife i would love a new battery drill, finally getting a decent one after all these years, and picked out a few nice ones. I opened the present: another cheap off-brand drill. They "didn't have any of the ones I picked out", but this one came with free drill bits. All useless. FML

Today, my mother started nagging me for spending $500 on a guitar, stating that, "We're not in the mood for unnecessary bullcrap." I paid for it with MY money, and she suddenly turned up at MY house because my father kicked her out of their house after finding out that she cheated on him. FML

Today, I got a gift from my wife. It was a beautiful watch. The same exact watch I'd sold to our local jewelers for 6k. She bought it for 10k. When I told her, she said, "Hmmm, I thought it looked familiar." There goes 4K from our joint account. I could’ve thought of 4000 ways to spend that money. FML

Probably isn't even about the money. Often people will pick fights that arent related to the actual issue. Maybe have a conversation about limits on individual discretionary spending vs joint agreed spending..this is week one marriage stuff...

how do you guys handle household bills? having a house account you each contribute to equally let's you maintain your own accounts and spend what you want without people feeling like you're not supporting the household enough

I would have bought the drill set too, and I'm a female. Then I would have fixed my car/ Harley, taken a shower, put on a sleek outfit, grabbed my Gucci purse and Parsifal watch and gone to the concert.
