Sooo semicolon goes before the list not in the list. That's what comma's are for. Sorry looks like your degree wasn't with it at all.

I'm really disappointed that it took you until your master's program to learn about using a semicolon in a list. If you're listing multiple things, and one or more of the things requires the use of a comma, use a semicolon in the list (instead of the normal comma) to differentiate. I can't even remember how long ago I learned that. It was before high school. Pay attention in class and maybe you'll learn more.
